Objective: To establish a morphologic classification system for characterizing blast cells in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and analyze the correlation of different APL morphologic characteristics with conventional tests and genetic variants.

Methods: Based on the morphological characteristics of APL blast cells, a classification system of 14 categories was established to characterize the inter- and intra-individual cellular morphological heterogeneity of patients. The classification system was used for the morphological analysis of 40 APL patients, and the classification results were statistically analyzed with the patients' conventional test indexes and gene variant characteristics to analyze the correlation of different APL blast cell morphological features with conventional test indexes and gene variants.

Unlabelled: Broadly neutralizing antibodies targeting the V2 apex of the HIV-1 envelope trimer are among the most common specificities elicited in HIV-1-infected humans and simian-human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV)-infected macaques. To gain insight into the prevalent induction of these antibodies, we isolated and characterized 11 V2 apex-directed neutralizing antibody lineages from SHIV-infected rhesus macaques. Remarkably, all SHIV-induced V2 apex lineages were derived from reading frame two of the rhesus DH3-15*01 gene.

The development of vaccines and therapeutics that are broadly effective against known and emergent coronaviruses is an urgent priority. We screened the circulating B cell repertoires of COVID-19 survivors and vaccinees to isolate over 9,000 severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), providing an expansive view of the SARS-CoV-2-specific Ab repertoire. Among the recovered antibodies was TXG-0078, an N-terminal domain (NTD)-specific neutralizing mAb that recognizes diverse alpha- and beta-coronaviruses.

Epidemiological evidence showed that serum high perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) levels are associated with multiple eye related diseases, but the potential underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Zebrafish and photoreceptor cell (661w) models were used to investigate the molecular mechanism of PFOS induced eye development defects. Our results showed a novel molecular mechanism of PFOS-induced inflammation response-mediated photoreceptor cell death associated with eye development defects.

Alphaviruses are arboviruses transmitted by mosquitoes and are pathogenic to humans and livestock, causing a substantial public health burden. So far, several receptors have been identified for alphavirus entry; however, they cannot explain the broad host range and tissue tropism of certain alphaviruses, such as Getah virus (GETV), indicating the existence of additional receptors. Here we identify the evolutionarily conserved low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) as a new cell entry factor for GETV, Semliki Forest virus (SFV), Ross River virus (RRV) and Bebaru virus (BEBV).

Swine pathogens have a long history of zoonotic transmission to humans, occasionally leading to sustained outbreaks or pandemics. Through a retrospective epidemiological study of swine populations in China, we describe novel lineages of porcine hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus (PHEV) complex coronaviruses (CoVs) that cause exclusively respiratory symptoms with no signs of the neurological symptoms typically associated with classical PHEV infection. Through large-scale epidemiological surveillance, we show that these novel lineages have circulated in at least eight provinces in southeastern China.
