  • Lithium-rich layered oxides (LLOs) are promising for high-energy battery cathodes but suffer from voltage decay due to irreversible reactions at high voltages.
  • Researchers theoretically studied manganese-based LLO structures and found that ring formations can enable stable redox reactions, while cobalt disrupts this stability.
  • They developed cobalt-free concentration-gradient LLOs (CF-CG-LLOs), which showed excellent capacity retention over 100 cycles, a very low voltage decay of 0.15 mV/cycle, and a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.86%, indicating strong potential for improved battery performance.

In order to effectively control the large deformation of coal pillar and roadway during entry retained along gob side with small coal pillar, taking 1311 and 1312 working faces of a coal mine in Shanxi Province as engineering background, the structural characteristics of overlying rock are studied, and the stress source of entry retained along gob side with small coal pillar and the principle of roof cutting and pressure relief are analyzed, then the roof cutting and pressure relief technology of shaped charge blasting with combined and grouped of deep and shallow holes is put forward. According to the geological conditions of 1311 working face, through the calculation of caving zone and crack zone height of the working face, the analysis of roof breaking and instability conditions and the calculation of crack zone blasting radius, the key parameters of roof cutting by deep and shallow hole combined blasting are determined. Through the numerical simulation and analysis of roof cutting and pressure relief in different key strata, the variation law of vertical stress acting on small coal pillar is obtained, as follows: no roof cutting > only cut layer 2 > only cut layer 1 > cut layer 3 + partial layer 2 > cut layer 1 ~ 3; Based on these, a cooperative control scheme of "roof cutting and pressure relief by shaped charge blasting with combined and grouped of deep and shallow holes" + "anchor-cable combined support" + "coal pillar strengthened" is put forward.

Understanding how doping influences physicochemical properties of ABO perovskite oxides is critical for tailoring their functionalities. In this study, SrFeCrO epitaxial thin films were used to examine the effects of Fe and Cr competition on structure and B-site cation oxidation states. The films exhibit a perovskite-like structure near the film/substrate interface, while a brownmillerite-like structure with horizontal oxygen vacancy channels predominates near the surface.

The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis regulates egg laying through control hormones secretion in poultry. In this study, the serum hormones (12 samples per stage), serum biochemical indexes (12 samples per stage), and ovarian metabolites (8 samples per stage) of Muscovy breeder ducks were detected at prelaying stage (PT), start of laying stage (ST), high laying stage (HT), and the end of laying stage (ET). The serum hormones of Muscovy ducks were measured at 8:00, 13:00, 18:00, 23:00, and 4:00 within 1 d.

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is an important polar solvent that derives its unique properties from the lone pair and the strong polar bond at the sulfinyl functional group. To derive the local and symmetry-resolved electronic structure of liquid DMSO, we have used resonant inelastic soft X-ray scattering (RIXS) maps at the S L, C K, and O K edges. The experimental data are compared to calculations of spectra based on density functional theory, which allows a detailed analysis of the molecular orbitals throughout the molecule.

  • - Manganese-based materials are promising candidates for next-generation lithium-ion batteries due to their abundance, low cost, and stability, particularly as cathodes.
  • - The study demonstrates that slight heating of high-manganese disordered rocksalt cathodes creates nanosized spinel domains, which improve electrochemical properties by eliminating harmful lithiation reactions.
  • - The resulting nanostructure allows for better performance, achieving a discharge capacity of 200 mAh g in a material with a primary particle size of about 5 µm, and highlights new methods for building efficient manganese-based cathodes.

Introduction: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is accompanied by severe postoperative pain, which is reported to be an important cause of chronic pain. Ultrasound-guided adductor canal block (ACB) combined with infiltration between the popliteal artery and posterior capsular of the knee (IPACK) has been proven to have a better effect on relieving acute pain after TKA. However, whether it has a significant effect on the incidence of chronic pain after TKA has not been reported.

Background: The emergence of robotic surgical systems compensated for the technological shortcomings of laparoscopic approaches. However, whether robotic gastrectomy (RG) has better perioperative outcomes and survival than laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) for gastric cancer is still unclear but increasingly drawing attention.

Materials And Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library as of January 20, 2024 and referenced list of eligible articles for all published studies comparing RG and LG for patients with gastric cancer, Data on study characteristics, individual characteristics, and outcome parameters were extracted.

Pushing intercalation-type cathode materials to their theoretical capacity often suffers from fragile Li-deficient frameworks and severe lattice strain, leading to mechanical failure issues within the crystal structure and fast capacity fading. This is particularly pronounced in layered oxide cathodes because the intrinsic nature of their structures is susceptible to structural degradation with excessive Li extraction, which remains unsolved yet despite attempts involving elemental doping and surface coating strategies. Herein, a mechanochemical strengthening strategy is developed through a gradient disordering structure to address these challenges and push the LiCoO (LCO) layered cathode approaching the capacity limit (256 mAh g, up to 93% of Li utilization).

Traditional cathode chemistry of Li-ion batteries relies on the transport of Li-ions within the solid structures, with the transition metal ions and anions acting as the static components. Here, we demonstrate that a solid solution of F and PO facilitates the reversible conversion of a fine mixture of iron powder, LiF, and LiPO into iron salts. Notably, in its fully lithiated state, we use commercial iron metal powder in this cathode, departing from electrodes that begin with iron salts, such as FeF.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a severe motor neuron disease with uncertain genetic predisposition in most sporadic cases. The spatial architecture of cell types and gene expression are the basis of cell-cell interactions, biological function and disease pathology, but are not well investigated in the human motor cortex, a key ALS-relevant brain region. Recent studies indicated single nucleus transcriptomic features of motor neuron vulnerability in ALS motor cortex.

Hole transporting layers (HTLs), strategically positioned between electrode and light absorber, play a pivotal role in shaping charge extraction and transport in organic solar cells (OSCs). However, the commonly used poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) HTL, with its hygroscopic and acidic nature, undermines the operational durability of OSC devices. Herein, an environmentally friendly approach is developed utilizing nickel acetate tetrahydrate (NiAc·4HO) and [2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)ethyl] phosphonic acid (2PACz) as the NiAc·4HO/2PACz HTL, aiming at overcoming the limitations posed by the conventional PEDOT:PSS one.
