Compared with the control, Mn deficiency and Cu deficiency increased Cd uptake and accumulation in roots, and Cd levels in root cell wall and soluble fractions, but inhibited Cd translocation to shoots. Mn addition reduced Cd uptake and accumulation in roots, and Cd level in root soluble fraction.

Calcium-dependent protein kinase (CDPK) is a Ca sensor that can phosphorylate and regulate respiratory burst oxidase homolog (Rboh), inducing the production of O. However, little is known about how StCDPK23 affects ROS production in the deposition of suberin at potato tuber wounds by regulating StRbohs. View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn this study, density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) were used to unveil the solvation effects on the excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) of nitrile-substituted -hydroxy-2-phenyl-oxazoline (NOHPO) molecules in three different solvents. According to the functional analysis of the reduced density gradient, hydrogen bond in low-polar solvents is stronger compared to that in high-polar solvents, indicating that proton transfer (PT) can be influenced by the polarity of the solvent. Moreover, the geometric parameters and infrared vibration spectrum of NOHPO in different types of solvents in the S and S state were compared, which confirmed the above results.

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9-based screening using various guide RNA (gRNA) libraries has been executed to identify functional components for a wide range of phenotypes with regard to numerous cell types and organisms. Using data from public CRISPR/Cas9-based screening experiments, we found that the sequences of gRNAs in the library influence CRISPR/Cas9-based screening. As building a standard strategy for correcting results of all gRNA libraries is impractical, we developed SeqCor, an open-source programming bundle that enables researchers to address the result bias potentially triggered by the composition of gRNA sequences via the organization of gRNA in the library used in CRISPR/Cas9-based screening.

This study aimed to evaluate the potential synergistic interactions between Tanreqing (TRQ) injection, a commercial traditional Chinese medicine formula used for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection, and selected antibiotics used against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Methods: The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of TRQ, vancomycin and linezolid against planktonic MRSA strain were determined by the broth microdilution method.
A novel fast, sensitive, and specific multifunctional electrochemical platform has been proposed for simultaneous detection, elimination, and inactivation of pathogenic bacteria for the first time. The platform is constituted with three-dimensional ZnO nanorod arrays (3D-ZnO) decorated with sliver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and functionalized with vancomycin (Van). Based on the specific recognition of Van for Gram-positive bacteria, the fabricated electrochemical platform has presented high detection sensitivity to Staphylococcus aureus with a low detection limit of 330cfu/mL and adaptable bacterial-elimination efficiency (50%) at low concentrations (1000-2000cfu/mL).
