Sound signals not only serve as the primary communication medium but also find application in fields such as medical diagnosis and fault detection. With public healthcare resources increasingly under pressure, and challenges faced by disabled individuals on a daily basis, solutions that facilitate low-cost private healthcare hold considerable promise. Acoustic methods have been widely studied because of their lower technical complexity compared to other medical solutions, as well as the high safety threshold of the human body to acoustic energy.

Methods that allow versatile manipulation of metastable centers in semiconductors are highly important owing to their potential for quantum information processing and computations. In this study, we demonstrate that the electron-phonon interaction enables phonon participation to promote relaxation of metastable centers in ZnO, which is known for its persistent photoconductivity (PPC) effect. Experimentally, we show that continuous infrared (IR) radiation (1064 nm, ∼30 mW/cm) promotes longitudinal optical phonons via the Fröhlich interaction and increases the PPC relaxation rate by ∼4 folds.

The contact behavior of a hemisphere pressed by a rigid plane is of great significance to the study of friction, wear, and conduction between two rough surfaces. A flattening contact behavior of an elastic-perfectly plastic hemisphere pressed by a rigid flat is researched by using the finite element method in this paper. This behavior, influenced by different elastic moduli, Poisson's ratios, and yield strengths, is compared and analyzed in a large range of interference values, which have not been considered by previous models.

In this study, we developed a low-cost, reusable, and highly sensitive analytical platform for the detection of the human metabolite uric acid (UA). This novel analysis platform combines the graphene chemoresistor detection technique with a magnetic bead (MB) system. The heterojunction (single-layer graphene and HfO thin-film material) of our graphene-based biosensor worked as a transducer to detect the pH change caused by the specific catalytic reaction between UA and uricase, and hence acquires a UA concentration.
