It is known that physical activity is beneficial for the prevention of osteoarthritis (OA), but specific discussions on which types and levels of physical activity are more effective in reducing the incidence of OA are restricted. This study is aimed at exploring the correlation concerning the types of physical activity, levels of physical activity, and the incidence of OA by assessing the participation in five typical forms of physical activity (vigorous work activity, vigorous recreational activity, moderate work activity, moderate recreational activity, and walking or bicycling). Cross-sectional study was conducted.

Background And Aims: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease complicated by diabetes mellitus (DM) is the leading cause of death in diabetic patients, and it is strongly associated with macrophages and inflammasomes. It has been found that activation of NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is closely associated with phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P) on the trans-Golgi. However, how PI4P and NLRP3 regulate macrophage function and its role in diabetic atherosclerotic plaques is unclear.

Purpose: To improve the scientificity and accuracy of this study.

Method: We studied the research methods of the article by carefully reading the author 's article and consulting the relevant literature.

Result: The authors performed an excellent and meaningful work, finding that FNS appeared advantageous over CCS in Harris Hip Scores (HHS), operative time, and reoperation rates, providing clinicians with a basis for selecting internal fixation methods.

Article Synopsis
  • - A novel method for producing cellulose nanofibers (CNF) from bamboo shoot shell (BSS) was developed, addressing environmental and safety concerns linked to traditional processes through low-concentration acid treatment and dynamic high-pressure microfluidization (DHPM).
  • - The physical and chemical properties of the CNF were evaluated, revealing significantly smaller fiber diameters and improved crystallinity compared to insoluble dietary fiber, with effective removal of lignin and hemicellulose.
  • - Safety assessments in vitro (no toxicity on Caco-2 cells) and in vivo (no adverse effects in mice) confirmed the CNF's safety, supporting its potential use as a food additive in an environmentally friendly way.

Scope: Butyric acid (C4) and lauric acid (C12) are recognized as functional fatty acids, while the health benefits of the structural lipids they constitute remain unclear.

Methods And Results: In this study, lauric acid-butyric structural lipid (S ) is synthesized through ultrasound-assisted enzyme-catalyzed acidolysis and its health benefits are evaluated in a high-fat diet-induced obesity mouse model. S and its physical mixture (M ) do not significantly inhibit obesity in mice.

Purpose: The position of the acetabular and femoral components is critical for stability and wear resistance. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the fluoroscopy-guided direct anterior approach in the supine position (S-DAA) is more helpful in improving the position of acetabular and femoral components than the fluoroscopy-guided direct anterior approach in the lateral decubitus position (L-DAA).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 76 cases of fluoroscopy-guided direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty (38 cases in the S-DAA and 38 cases in the L-DAA group) was performed in one hospital from 2019 to 2021.

Sea cucumber peptides (SCPs) have been proven to have many active functions; however, their impact on testosterone synthesis and the corresponding mechanism are not yet clear. This study attempts to explore the effects of SCPs on sex hormone regulation in acute exhaustive swimming (AES) male mice and the possible mechanisms. In the present study, SCP intervention significantly prolonged exhaustive swimming time and reduced exercise metabolite accumulation.

Objective: To investigate the effect of different postures on direct anterior approach(DAA) total hip arthroplasty.

Methods: Total of 94 patients who underwent DAA total hip arthroplasty from July 2016 to June 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into two groups according to different positions during the operation, including 45 cases in lateral position and 49 cases in supine position (with the aid of stent).

Foods undergo various physical and chemical reactions during cooking. Boiling, steaming, baking, smoking and frying are common traditional cooking techniques. At present, new cooking technologies including ultrasonic-assisted cooking, vacuum low-temperature cooking, vacuum frying, microwave heating, infrared heating, ohmic heating and air frying are widely studied and used.

Sea cucumber peptides (SCPs) have various functional activities. However, studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SCPs from the perspective of sex hormones are still lacking. In this study, normal and premature ovarian failure (POF) female mice were used to assess the effect of SCPs on the sex hormones.

Nowadays, the biological activity of collagen peptides has been revealed, but the effect of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) bone-derived collagen peptide (CPs) on osteoarthritis remains unclear. In this study, CPs was identified as a small molecular weight peptide rich in Gly-X-Y structure. Meanwhile, interleukin-1β (IL-1β)-induced hypertrophic chondrocytes and partial medial meniscectomy (pMMx) surgery model in rats were performed.

Objective: To analyze the timing of artificial femoral head replacement in elderly patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture after intramedullary nail failure.

Methods: From July 2013 to September 2019, 17 elderly patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture after intramedullary nail fixation failure were treated with artificial femoral head replacement. According to the interval from diagnosis of internal fixation failure to pedestrian femoral head replacement, the patients were divided into early operation and delayed operation groups.

Structuring is a feasible scheme to improve lipids' value. Here, S and S (C4-C12 structural lipids) were obtained through enzymatic ester-ester transesterification or acidolysis interesterification using glyceryl tributyrate/glyceryl tridodecanoate and lauric acid/glyceryl tributyrate as raw materials, respectively. The digestive characteristics of S and S were investigated in vitro and in vivo, meanwhile, their effects on gut microbes were studied.

Background: Medium-chain monoglycerides (MGs) are a group of 1-monoglycerides of medium-chain fatty acids with strong antibacterial activity, which may influence the gut microbiota in the diet of broilers. The present study evaluated the effects of mixed MGs on the community and function of gut microbiota in broilers. A total of 528 newly hatched male yellow feathered broiler chicks were weighed and randomly assigned into four groups, including a basal diet (CON), a basal diet containing 300 mg kg MG (MG300), 450 mg kg MG (MG450), or 600 mg kg MG (MG600).

Purpose: In previous studies, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) have been found to regulate gut microbiota and change gut barrier status, and the potential positive effects of SCFAs on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) have also been found, but the role of SCFAs in these three diseases is not clear. This review aims to summarize existing evidence on the effects of SCFAs on IBD, T1D, and NHFLD, and correlates them with gut barrier and gut microbiota (gut microbiota barrier).

Methods: A literature search in PubMed, Web of Science, Springer, and Wiley Online Library up to October 2020 was conducted for all relevant studies published.
