To evaluate the predictive factors affecting the stone-free rate (SFR) and complications of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCN) in the treatment of proximal impacted ureteral stones (PIUS) based on a new scoring standard. The data of 90 patients with PIUS were collected in this retrospective study between January 2015 and June 2023. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to determine factors affecting treatment outcome in terms of SFR and complications.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality among men worldwide, and its incidence has risen substantially in recent years. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify novel biomarkers and precise therapeutic targets for managing PCa progression and recurrence.

Methods: We investigated the clinical significance of NCAPG2 in PCa by exploring public datasets and our tissue microarray.

Kidney cancer represents the third most prevalent malignancy among all types of genitourinary cancer worldwide. Currently, there is a growing trend of employing partial nephrectomy for the management of large and complex tumors. Surgical outcomes are associated with some amendable surgical factors, including warm ischemic time, pedicle clamping, preserved volume of renal parenchyma, appropriate surgical strategy, and precise resection of the tumor.

Homeobox A5 (HOXA5), a homeodomain transcription factor, is considered a tumor suppressor in cancer progression; however, its function in prostate cancer (PCa) remains unclear. This study focused on the relevance of HOXA5 in PCa progression. We identified the downregulation of HOXA5 in PCa tissues based on the TCGA database and further verified in 30-paired PCa and adjacent normal tissues.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is characterized by significant heterogeneity. Thus, novel prognostic indicators are required to improve prognosis and treatment.

Methods: Cysteine rich secretory protein 3 (CRISP3) and serine peptidase inhibitor Kazal type 1 (SPINK1) levels in expressed prostatic secretion (EPS)-urine collected during digital rectal examination of 496 patients histologically diagnosed with PCa were detected enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) consolidate visual processing and constitute the last step prior to the transmission of signals to higher brain centers. RGC death is a major cause of visual impairment in optic neuropathies, including glaucoma, age‑related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, uveoretinitis and vitreoretinopathy. Discharge patterns of RGCs are primarily determined by the presence of ion channels.
