Self-Healing Oxidized Dextran/Sodium Alginate Hydrogel Dressing with Hemostatic Activity Speeds Up Wound Healing in Burn Injuries.

This study introduced a hydrogel dressing, termed SODex-gel, which was constructed by establishing Schiff base and hydrogen bonds with the precursors of oxidized dextran (ODex) and succinic dihydrazide (SD)-modified sodium alginate (SD--SA). Through comprehensive and studies, the adhesive properties, self-healing capabilities, hemostatic potential, and wound healing efficacy of the SODex-gel dressing were meticulously evaluated. The H NMR, FTIR, and TGA analyses confirmed the fabrication of the SODex-gel dressing and its constituent elements.

Heart rate variability in subthreshold depression and major depressive disorder.

Background: The relationship between heart rate variability (HRV) and major depressive disorder (MDD) has been well explored. However, current researches lack an observation of HRV in subthreshold depression (SubD), which increases the risk of MDD and presents significant societal challenges.

Methods: This study compared resting state HRV among 128 MDD patients, 131 SubD individuals and 222 healthy controls (HC) recruited from the hospital, physical examination center, and colleges.

Real-Time Volumetric Free-Hand Ultrasound Imaging for Large-Sized Organs: A Study of Imaging the Whole Spine.

Objectives: Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound imaging can overcome the limitations of conventional two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound imaging in structural observation and measurement. However, conducting volumetric ultrasound imaging for large-sized organs still faces difficulties including long acquisition time, inevitable patient movement, and 3D feature recognition. In this study, we proposed a real-time volumetric free-hand ultrasound imaging system optimized for the above issues and applied it to the clinical diagnosis of scoliosis.

Coupling the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) represents a highly promising energy-saving strategy for hydrogen production. However, the development of cost-effective and high-performance bifunctional electrocatalysts remains a challenge. In this study, a NiSe/CoSe heterojunction was constructed via electrodeposition, leveraging interfacial synergy to significantly enhance catalytic performance.

Effect of BSSRO on disc-condyle relationship of the temporomandibular joint in skeletal Class III malocclusion patients.

Purpose: To analyze dynamic and static changes in the disc-condyle relationship in patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion after orthognathic surgery.

Methods: The surgical group comprised 30 patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion, and the magnetic resonance imaging and mandibular movement data were obtained at T0 (preoperatively), T1 (3 months postoperatively), and T2 (at the end of orthodontic treatment). The control group included 20 patients with normal occlusion, and the mandibular movement data were recorded.

This study developed a deep eutectic solvent-based emulsive liquid-liquid microextraction method combined with high-performance liquid chromatography (DES-ELLME-HPLC) for the detection of triazine herbicides. The technique was validated for food sample detection. Hydrophobic DES was prepared by using tributylphosphine oxide and octanoic acid to replace toxic solvents.

The role of Sertoli cell-derived miR-143-3p in male fertility declines with age.

As delayed parenthood becomes more prevalent, understanding age-related testosterone decline and its impact on male fertility has gained importance. However, molecular mechanisms concerning testicular aging remain largely undiscovered. Our study highlights that miR-143-3p, present in aging Sertoli cells (SCs), is loaded into extracellular vesicles (EVs), affecting Leydig cells (LCs) and germ cells, thus disrupting testicular tissue homeostasis and spermatogenesis.

Background: To assess the rate of macular blood flow decreasing in adults with and without posterior staphyloma (PS) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to identify risk factors associated with PS progression.

Methods: This longitudinal case-control study enrolled 122 eyes of 122 patients-64 patients with PS (PS group) and 58 patients without PS (NPS group). Participants underwent OCTA and clinical examinations at least twice, and those followed for at least one year were included in the analysis.

One-step construction of bioinspired multi-enzyme mimicking nanozyme as a universal platform for multi-mode sensing and catalytic degradation.

Nanozymes, a category of nanomaterials with exceptional enzyme-like activity, exhibit the significant promise to overcome the inherent limitations of natural enzymes. Inspired by the active site structure of natural laccase, a biomimetic MA-Cu nanozyme with three-dimensional network structure was constructed in water system through one-step complexation based on the specific coordination between nitrogen-rich triazine heterocyclic melamine and Cu, in a facile, green and economical manner. Compared to natural laccase, MA-Cu possesses superior multi-enzyme mimicking activity, stability and cost-effectiveness.
