The ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) can be used to overcome the mode mixing problem of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) effectively. The EEMD method and Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) can be used to analyze pulse signals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The amplitudes of the added white noise were about 0.

The lip color of a person is closely related to his or her health in the visual diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The traditional method to judge the color of lips is through observing by a TCM doctor. The diagnosis result is affected not only by the doctor's knowledge and diagnosis experience, but also by the light, temperature and other environmental impacts.

Map-based cloning revealed that NLS1 encodes a typical CC-NB-LRR-type protein in rice.

The presence of these domains suggests potentially complex and novel functions for Morgue in ubiquitination pathways. Morgue was originally identified via its gain-of-function enhancement of eye cell death phenotypes in Drosophila and ectopic expression of Morgue also influences circadian rhythms.

First, Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) at level 6 was employed to split more elaborate frequency bands of the auscultation signals. Then statistic analysis was made based on the extracted Wavelet Packet Energy (WPE) features from WPD coefficients.

It affects a variety of physiological processes, including programmed cell death (PCD) through cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-dependent and - independent pathways. In this field, dominant discoveries are the diverse apoptosis networks in mammalian cells, which involve signals primarily via death receptors (extrinsic pathway) or the mitochondria (intrinsic pathway) that recruit caspases as effector molecules.

Most recently, we cloned the first responsible gene from rice, ZEBRA2, which also leads to the phenotype of rice preharvest sprouting. ZEBRA2, a single-copy gene in the rice genome, encodes a carotenoid isomerase (CRTISO), the key enzyme catalyzing the conversion of cis-lycopene to all-trans lycopene.

Methods: All of 308 samples including 150 samples of qi-deficiency, 52 yin-deficiency, 55 excess and 51 normal were collected by "Voice Collecting System of TCM" and analyzed by wavelet packet transform (WPT) combined with approximate entropy (ApEn). The characteristic parameters with remarkable differences were chosen as input vectors for support vector machine (SVM) classifier to obtain classification results.
Background And Aims: It has been well documented that endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) participate in neovascularization in adults and that rarefaction of peritubular capillaries (PTCs) is closely associated with progressive kidney disease. Therefore, we investigated whether EPCs were influenced by conditioned medium (CM) of renal tubular epithelial cells (RTECs) stimulated by hypoxia, to provide evidence for EPCs transplantation in vivo in the future.
Methods: Mononuclear cells of rat bone marrow were isolated by density gradient centrifugation and were cultured according to previously described techniques.
Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a common cardiovascular disease that is extremely harmful to humans. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the diagnosis and treatment of CHD have a long history and ample experience. However, the non-standard inquiry information influences the diagnosis and treatment in TCM to a certain extent.

It has been shown that active and repressive histone methylations distribute in a mutually exclusive manner, but the underlying mechanism was poorly understood. Here we identified ceKDM7A, a PHD (plant homeodomain)- and JmjC domain-containing protein, as a histone demethylase specific for H3K9me2 and H3K27me2.

However, how substrate specificity is determined and how the enzymes are regulated were largely unknown. We recently found that ceKDM7A, a PHD- and JmjC domain-containing protein, is a histone demethylase specific for H3K9me2 and H3K27me2, and the PHD finger binding to H3K4me3 guides the demethylation activity in vivo.

Objective: To explore the impedance characteristics of ear acupoints in stroke patients with excess or deficiency syndrome, and to provide basis data for objective study of the syndromes of stroke.
Methods: The data of electrical characteristics of ear acupoints in stroke patients and healthy people were collected, and excess syndrome and deficiency syndrome of stroke were identified by quantifying the syndromes of stroke using scales. The differences in impedance characteristics of ear acupoints between stroke patients and healthy people were analyzed, and the differences in impedance characteristics of ear acupoints between stroke patients with excess syndrome and stroke patients with deficiency syndrome were analyzed too.
Dimethylation of histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9me2) is an important epigenetic mark associated with transcription repression. Here, we identified PHF8, a JmjC-domain-containing protein, as a histone demethylase specific for this repressing mark. Recombinant full-length wild type protein could remove methylation from H3K9me2, but mutation of a conserved histidine to alanine H247A abolished the demethylase activity.

Objective: To study the inhibitory effects of short hairpin RNA (pshLMP1) combined with DNAzyme or alone on latent membrane protein-1 (LMP1)expression in HNE1 cell lines.
Method: The pshLMP1 and DNAzymes were co-transfected with pEGFP-N1-1158 (a expression vector encoding LMP1 and EGFP fusion protein) into HNE1 cells, divided into 4 groups as positive control, RNA interference, combining and DNAzyme groups. The green fluorescence were analyzed and then the mRNA and protein of LMP1 gene were detected.

Methods: A total of 40 healthy male C57B6 mice (VSIG4(-/-); and VSIG4(+/+);) were divided into two groups, VSIG4(-/-); tubulointerstitial Nephritis (n=20) and VSIG4(+/+); tubulointerstitial Nephritis (n=20), mice received left urethral obstruction operation(UUO) then were killed at 7 d before operation, 3 d, 7 d and 14 d post operation for both groups.Blood SCr and BUN were detected.
Background: The common treatment principle of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) is complete resection of the tumor. The rapid development of endoscopic skill makes it possible to resect GISTs en-bloc through the endoscopic approach.
Aims: The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of endoscopic resection for small-size (<30 mm) gastric GISTs.
Geminiviruses include a large number of single-stranded DNA viruses that are emerging as useful tools to dissect many fundamental processes in plant hosts. However, there have been no reports yet regarding the genetic dissection of the geminivirus-plant interaction. Here, a high-throughput approach was developed to screen Arabidopsis activation-tagged mutants which are resistant to geminivirus Beet severe curly top virus (BSCTV) infection.

Reactive oxygen intermediates (ROIs) and reactive nitrogen intermediates (RNIs) have now become well established as important signalling molecules in physiological settings within microorganisms, mammals and plants. These intermediates are routinely synthesised in a highly controlled and transient fashion by NADPH-dependent enzymes, which constitute key regulators of redox signalling. Mild oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) and especially nitric oxide (NO) signal through chemical reactions with specific atoms of target proteins that result in covalent protein modifications.

The traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) inspection on tongue features are always observed with naked eye, and the syndrome is differentiated depended only on experience. These disadvantages cannot but badly impact not only the inheritance but also the advance and development of TCM. Hence, to bring out the standardization and objectivity of TCM tongue inspection is a task urgently expected.

Recently, tumor endothelial marker 8 (TEM8) was discovered to be dominantly expressed in tumor endothelium, which presented a new strategy to antiangiogenesis therapy. However, up to date, the related study of TEM8 on antiangiogenesis is very few.

Vesicle trafficking is an important pathway for this kind of communication. Most of the membrane fusion is mediated by SNAREs (Soluble N-ethyl-maleimide-sensitive fusion protein attachment protein receptors), which are highly conserved from various species.
