Antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) pose significant environmental health problems and have become a major global concern. This study investigated the efficacy and mechanism of the Cl-UV process (chlorine followed by UV irradiation) for removing ARGs in various forms. The Cl-UV process caused irreversible damage to nearly all ARB at typical disinfectant dosages.

Methods: To reveal potential epigenetic mechanism during hydronephrosis, we first used RNA-seq to finger out the disfunction genes during hydronephrosis, then combined with ATAC-seq, and BS-seq to reveal the related disfunction regulatory elements.
High-flow cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage is a major complication after surgery via the extended endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA). Thus, surgeons are still searching for techniques to avoid postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (poCSF) leakage. Recently, several surgeons have attempted dural suturing to prevent poCSF leakage.

This investigation seeks to assess the potential clinical utility of miR-141-3p found in AD-exos for expediting wound healing.
Methods: ADSCs were isolated from the wounded patients' tissue and validated via flow cytometry, and the mineralization and adipogenic capabilities of ADSCs were assessed respectively.
Irrigation rapidly expanded during the 20 century, affecting climate via water, energy, and biogeochemical changes. Previous assessments of these effects predominantly relied on a single Earth System Model, and therefore suffered from structural model uncertainties. Here we quantify the impacts of historical irrigation expansion on climate by analysing simulation results from six Earth system models participating in the Irrigation Model Intercomparison Project (IRRMIP).

Increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) in agricultural systems is a primary nature-based option for mitigating climate change, improving soil fertility, and ensuring food security. However, the consequences of global warming and increases in carbon inputs on cropland SOC stocks over the last few decades remain largely unknown, particularly in deeper soil layers. Here, by using repeated measurements, we reassess variations in SOC stocks across a 0 to 100 cm soil profile at the same locations in China's upland croplands in 1980 and 2023.

Here, we use two decades of satellite data and a physics-based framework to analyse the biophysical mechanisms by which croplands influence daily mean land surface temperature (LST). Globally, 60% of croplands exhibit an annual warming effect, while 40% have a cooling effect compared to their surrounding natural ecosystems.

This report, based on a monitoring indicator system for coordinated governance of air pollution and climate change, employs an interdisciplinary approach combining natural and social sciences. It establishes 20 indicators across five key areas: air pollution and climate change, governance systems and practices, structural transformation and technologies, atmospheric components and emission reduction pathways, and health impacts and co-benefits.

The combined chlorine and UV processes (Cl-UV, UV/Cl, and UV-Cl) are considered potential control processes for controlling antibiotic resistance. This study compared the effectiveness of these three processes in real water bodies and the potential health risks associated with antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) after treatments.

Objective: To summarize the clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors of papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC) and to construct clinical and molecular prognostic nomograms using existing databases.
Methods: Clinical prognostic models were developed using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, while molecular prognostic models were constructed using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Cox regression and LASSO regression were employed to identify clinicopathological features and molecular markers related to prognosis.

An ideal microcapsule effectively preserves an active substance and can rapidly release it to elicit a self-healing anticorrosion effect. However, the development of highly efficient microcapsules remains a challenge. In this study, polymer/metal-organic framework hybrid microcapsules with dynamic properties were constructed as self-healing anticorrosion coatings.

Rice is the staple food for half of the world's population but also has the largest water footprint among cereal crops. Alternate wetting and drying (AWD) is a promising irrigation strategy to improve paddy rice's water productivity-defined as the ratio of rice yield to irrigation water use. However, its global adoption has been limited due to concerns about potential yield losses and uncertainties regarding water productivity improvements.

This double-layer absorber consists of two layers of FSS structure; each layer has a unique construction and plays its wave-absorbing function in different frequency bands. In the low-frequency band, layer I is a transmission channel, and layer II effectively absorbs electromagnetic waves.

Humans are simultaneously exposed to multiple brominated flame retardants (BFRs) in the environment. However, the relationship between BFRs and PD remains unclear.

Acinetobacter harbinensis HITLi7 (HITLi7) was used to enhance the low-temperature nitrification biofilter (LTNB) with a treatment capacity of 20,000 m/d. At 2 °C, with an empty bed contact time of 3 h, the LTNB achieved NH-N removal levels of 1.

China has taken several actions to curb the methane emissions, but their effects remain unclear. Here, we developed the Global ObservatioN-based system for monitoring Greenhouse GAses for methane (GONGGA-CH) and assimilate GOSAT XCH observations to assess changes in China's methane emissions.

Chuju, a cultivar of Chrysanthemum morifolium, has been traditionally cultivated for over 2000 years in China for both ornamental and medicinal purposes. To date, investigations into the chemical composition of this plant have indicated that it contains compounds with extensive biological activities, although detailed information on the chemical composition of Chuju remains scarce. In the present study, the chemical compositions of Chuju flowers were investigated across five sites in the core Chuju planting area in Anhui province, China.

In this study, intermetallic 1-NiCo electrocatalysts were designed using DFT calculations and fabricated through a one-step solid-state reaction method. The DFT calculations indicated that 1-NiCo presented a lower H adsorption Gibbs free energy and a moderate HO dissociation barrier compared to the commonly used Ni catalyst and disordered NiCo alloy.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA ketogenic diet (KD) is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate, and low-protein diet that exerts antiepileptic effects by attenuating spontaneous recurrent seizures, ameliorating learning and memory impairments, and modulating the gut microbiota composition. However, the role of the gut microbiome in the antiepileptic effects of a KD on temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) induced by lithium-pilocarpine in adult rats is still unknown. Our study provides evidence demonstrating that a KD effectively mitigates seizure behavior and reduces acute-phase epileptic brain activity and that KD treatment alleviates hippocampal neuronal damage and improves cognitive impairment induced by TLE.
