We report herein an efficient and site-selective electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation of indolines. In the absence of any catalyst or additive, C5-selective trifluoromethylthiolation could proceed at room temperature. With palladium used as the catalyst, the selectivity was reversed completely, giving C7-selecive trifluoromethylthiolated products.

Oxidative stress, which results from an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), can cause damage that may contribute to a range of metabolic disorders. Antioxidants are considered to upregulate the activity of antioxidant enzymes, which are crucial for eliminating excess ROS and safeguarding the body against oxidative stress-induced damage. In the present study, the effect of polyphenol extracts from tartary buckwheat sprouts (TBSE) on the redox system of HepG2-cell-induced oxidative injury by hydrogen peroxide were investigated for evaluating the protective effect and mechanism of tartary buckwheat sprouts (TBS).

Pangenomes can facilitate a deeper understanding of genome complexity. Using de novo phased long-read assemblies of eight representative goat breeds, we constructed a graph-based pangenome of goats (Capra hircus) and discovered 113-Mb autosomal novel sequences. Combining this multi-assembly pangenome with low-coverage PacBio HiFi sequences, we constructed a long-read structural variations (SVs) database containing 59,325 SV deletions, 84,910 SV insertions, and 24,954 other complex SV alleles.

Landscape patterns have a great effect on river water quality. However, the strategies for enhancing water quality through landscape pattern management remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to provide effective guidance for water quality management by quantifying the key spatial scales and landscape metrics that influence the seasonal variations in water quality and establishing threshold relationships between these metrics and abrupt variations in water quality in the Chaohu Lake basin, China.

Developing selective kinase inhibitors remains a formidable challenge in drug discovery because of the highly conserved structural information on adenosine triphosphate (ATP) binding sites across the kinase family. Tailoring docking protocols to identify promising kinase inhibitor candidates for optimization has long been a substantial obstacle to drug discovery. Therefore, we introduced "Kinase-Bench," a pioneering benchmark suite designed for an advanced virtual screen, to improve the selectivity and efficacy of kinase inhibitors.

To investigate the predictive value of the pretreatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for estimating the near-term efficacy of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) in patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this retrospective study, data were collected from patients with locally advanced HCC treated with HAIC between January 2018 and June 2022. Patients were categorized based on their pretreatment NLRs and analyzed using propensity score matching (PSM).

  • Cashmere, a valuable fiber from Cashmere goats, relies on dermal papilla cells for hair growth and is influenced by microRNAs, particularly miR-144.
  • The study examined how miR-144 interacts with the Lhx2 gene, using various techniques to analyze this relationship in cultured dermal papilla cells.
  • Results showed that miR-144 directly targets Lhx2, reducing its expression and impacting hair growth dynamics, which could lead to advancements in cashmere production and treatments for hair growth issues.

High-temperature steam injection is a primary method for viscosity reduction and recovery in heavy oil reservoirs. However, due to the high mobility of steam, channeling often occurs within the reservoir, leading to reduced thermal efficiency and challenges in enhancing oil production. Foam fluids, with their dual advantages of selective plugging and efficient oil displacement, are widely used in steam-injection heavy oil recovery.

Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) in food is a serious health risk, making rapid and accurate detection methods essential. Herein, we synthesized a magnetic plasmonic blackbody, FeO@Au/PDA, by coating a gold/polydopamine (Au/PDA) layer onto an FeO core. This FeO@Au/PDA exhibits broadband absorption, excellent stability, and rapid magnetic response, making it ideal for use as a magnetic separation tool and colorimetric signal amplifier.

Background: Probiotics can colonize both the human and animal bodies and consist of active microorganisms that are beneficial to health. The use of probiotics has been shown to alleviate certain neurological diseases and disturbances in gut microbiota resulting from chronic ethanol exposure. Research indicates that probiotics can influence the nervous system via the microbial-gut-brain axis, wherein extracellular vesicles secreted by the gut microbiota play a significant role in this process.

One major systematic error for free-fall atom gravimeters is the effect of two-photon light shift (LS2). In the process of evaluating LS2, the results can be affected by the residual frequency error of direct digital synthesizers due to necessary experimental parameter changes. In this paper, the impact of the coupling effect between the frequency error and LS2 has been investigated and analyzed, along with the related physical mechanisms.

The abnormal overexpression of FLT3 kinase is intimately associated with pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), positioning FLT3 inhibitors as pivotal therapeutic agents. Despite the availability of three FDA-approved FLT3 inhibitors, their clinical utility is hampered by resistance stemming from tyrosine kinase domain (TKD) mutations. Through an integrative analysis of case studies, we identified a potential advantage of type I FLT3 inhibitors in overcoming TKD mutation-induced resistance.

Background: Chronic ethanol exposure (CEE) is recognized as an important risk factor for depression, and the gut-brain axis has emerged as a key mechanism underlying chronic ethanol exposure-induced anxiety and depression-like behaviors. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which are the key metabolites generated by gut microbiota from insoluble dietary fiber, exert protective roles on the central nervous system, including the reduction of neuroinflammation. However, the link between gut microbial disturbances caused by chronic ethanol exposure, production of SCFAs, and anxiety and depression-like behaviors remains unclear.
