The hybrid vesicle AuNP@LCCV, in which a large number of AuNPs with an average size of about 2.8 nm were densely and uniformly distributed in an isolated state throughout the corona of the unusual polymer vesicle, was prepared reduction of Au ions, which were encapsulated in advance in the unique polymer vesicle (LCCV) consisting of a hydrophobic membrane of poly(2-phenyl-2-oxazoline) and a hydrophilic loop-cluster corona of polyethyleneimine. The vesicle was formed self-assembly from a comb-like block copolymer in which a polystyrenic main chain was grafted densely with diblock polyethyleneimine--poly(2-phenyl-2-oxazoline) and acted as a reactor for the reduction of Au.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists looked at a nature-based solution that used a special layer of tiny plants (biocrust) mixed with alfalfa and maize crops to help save carbon in very damaged soils.
  • They found that using this method greatly reduced soil erosion by nearly 95% and helped keep carbon and nitrogen in the soil too, while also helping to catch and store rainwater better.
  • Overall, the biocrust helped plants grow better and improved the tiny life in the soil, leading to healthier soil and more carbon storage compared to regular farming methods.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how the thickness of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film affects its mechanical properties and soil health in maize fields, focusing on various thickness levels.
  • Results show that greater film thickness leads to significant reductions in mechanical strength measures like tensile force and elongation, especially in thinner films.
  • While thicker films improve biomass productivity in maize, they may negatively impact soil structure and nutrient levels, indicating a need for further research on the long-term effects of using thick LDPE films in agriculture.

Comb-like copolymers are usually structured by grafting polymeric side chains onto main polymer chain. There are few reports of comb-on-comb polymers in which dense secondary side chains are grafted onto primary side chain. In this work, we synthesized comb polymers with grafted-on-graft side chains (c-PEI-g-Acyl) via an effective acylation reaction of comb polymers possessing polyethyleneimine (PEI) side chain with long-alkyl acyl chlorides.

A valid strategy for amplifying the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) efficiency of non-noble electrocatalyst in both alkaline and acid electrolytes by decorated with a layer of biomass derivative nitrogen-doped carbon (NPC) is proposed. Herein, a top-down strategy for the generally fabricating NPC matrix decorated with trace of metal oxides nanoparticles (FeO NPs) by a dual-template assisted high-temperature pyrolysis process is reported. A high-activity FeO /FeNC (namely Hemin/NPC-900) ORR electrocatalyst is prepared via simply carbonizing the admixture of Mg (OH) (CO ) and NaCl as dual-templates, melamine and acorn shells as nitrogen and carbon source, hemin as a natural iron and nitrogen source, respectively.
