We hypothesize that lysoglycerophospholipids (LysoGPLs) are pivotal mediators of atherosclerosis induced by exposure to PM. This study investigated the changes of LysoGPLs in response to PM exposure and the mediation role of LysoGPLs in the pro-atherosclerotic effects of PM exposure.

To investigate the energy attenuation law and propagation velocity of compressed waves in dry sandy soil, this paper focuses on the dynamic response of compression waves in the specimen under single impact and repetitive impact conditions using an improved split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The results reveal that the length of the specimen follows an exponential relationship with the attenuation of the peak stress.

Metabolites can double as a signaling modality that initiates physiological adaptations. Metabolism, a chemical language encoding biological information, has been recognized as a powerful principle directing inflammatory responses. Cytosolic pH is a regulator of inflammatory response in macrophages.

In addition, parrotfish are capable of sex reversal, usually some males are sexually reversed from females, and it is still not known whether this sex reversal leads to significant changes in gut microbial communities. In this study, we investigated the gut microbial communities of three species of parrotfish including Scarus forsteni (4 females and 4 sex-reversed males), Scarus ghobban (5 females and 5 sex-reversed males), and Hipposcarus longiceps (5 females and 5 sex-reversed males) by using high-throughput sequencing technology.

Herein, a method for the specific detection of tetracycline in aquaculture wastewater using a nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots fluorescence probe is reported. Nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) were synthesized in one step via a hydrothermal method, employing citric acid as the carbon source and diethylenetriamine as the nitrogen source.

Background: Acephalic spermatozoa syndrome is a rare but severe type of teratozoospermia. The familial trait of acephalic spermatozoa syndrome suggests that genetic factors play an important role. However, known mutations account for only some acephalic spermatozoa syndrome patients, and more studies are needed to elucidate its pathogenesis.

However, researches on the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis have been insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the effects of MM and FM on the prevention of DSS-induced ulcerative colitis in a mouse model and to preliminarily elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

This work aimed to design an efficient sorbent (NaSS-PSD) by pine sawdust (PSD) for the surveillance and management of enrofloxacin (ENR). In the study, sodium styrenesulfonate (NaSS) was chosen as an effective monomer to ameliorate the performance of PSD by graft copolymerization.

To perform a comprehensive analysis of the reliability of complex systems, a combination of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fuzzy Fault Tree Approach (FFTA) is introduced. Firstly, the FMEA method is used to analyze the potential failure modes and causes of system failure by completing the qualitative analysis of system reliability from the perspective of multi-factor failure modes.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between 2021 and 2023 in the three provinces of Lancang-Mekong River countries using consistent investigative procedures. We included 11,005 participants aged ≥ 18 years from three provinces, and data were collected through questionnaires, physical examinations, and biochemical tests.
Purpose: Pain-fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster (PFS) was common in patients with lung cancer and seriously affected the life quality of patients. However, the heterogeneity and subgroups of PFS were unclear in lung cancer patients after chemotherapy. This study was conducted to identify distinct subgroups of PFS in patients with lung cancer after chemotherapy, and explore the differences and risk factors of PFS subgroups.

Methods: We included 4,137 participants with hypertension from the 2011-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey cohort. The study endpoint was the incidence of CVD in patients with hypertension.
Background: Inflammatory markers are considered reliable indicators for predicting adverse outcomes of cardiovascular disease. However, the prognostic significance of composite inflammatory indicators such as the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and inflammatory prognosis index (IPI), in predicting mortality among heart failure (HF) patients remains unknown.
Methods: We analyzed data from 1981 patients with HF.
Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the main cause of deaths due to diabetes mellitus (DM). Due to the complexity of its onset, it is difficult to achieve accurate prevention and treatment. The classically activated macrophage (M1) polarization is a crucial proinflammatory mechanism of DKD, while the interaction and cascade effects of oxidative stress and inflammatory response remain to be elucidated.

Though several anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies approved for monotherapy in microsatellite instability-high or mismatch repair-deficient unresectable/metastatic solid tumors, novel immunotherapy with better anti-tumor activity is needed in clinic. In this single-arm, multicenter, pivotal, phase II study, patients received iparomlimab (a novel humanized anti-PD-1 mAb, 200 mg or 3 mg/kg for patients with body weight < 40 kg, IV, Q3W) until disease progression, intolerable toxicities, withdrawal of consent, death, or up to 2 years. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) assessed by independent radiological review committee (IRRC).

Natural selections, acting on the level of organisms or plasmids, shape the abundances of plasmid DNAs in prokaryotic genomes. Despite the importance of plasmids in health and engineering, there have been rare systematic attempts to quantitatively model and predict the determinants underlying the strength of different selection forces.
