Force-amplified, single-sided diffused-interface immersed boundary kernel for correct local velocity gradient computation and accurate no-slip boundary enforcement.

The current diffused-interface immersed boundary method (IBM) with a two-sided force distribution kernel cannot be used to correctly calculate the velocity gradients within the diffused solid-fluid interfaces. This is because the nonzero boundary force distributed to the fluid nodes modifies the momentum equation solved at these locations from the Navier-Stokes equations (NSEs). In this paper, this problem is analytically identified in simple plane channel flow.

MiR-566 protects the malignant progression of breast cancer by negatively regulating WNT6.

Objective: To elucidate the relationship between microRNA-566 (miR-566) and prognosis in breast cancer (BC) and to clarify the influences of miR-566 and WNT6 in its locus region on BC progression.

Patients And Methods: MiR-566 and WNT6 levels in 44 pairs of BC samples were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The influences of miR-566 on clinical features and prognosis in BC patients were analyzed.

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 19 deletion (E19del) is the most common activating mutation in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and associates with the sensitivity of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) treatment. However, not all mutant patterns of E19del have been well studied for the limited coverage of regular EGFR mutation testing. Here, we performed a retrospective cohort study of the C-helix E19del in advanced NSCLC patients based on the screening data by the next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform.

Effect of fire needle therapy on mild-moderate benign prostatic hyperplasia: Protocol for a randomized controlled pilot trial.

Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common non-cancerous disease of the prostate and leads to lower urinary tract symptoms in middle-aged and elderly males. Fire needle therapy could improve the lower urinary tract symptoms associated with mild-moderate BPH in clinical practice. The aim of the present pilot study is to assess the preliminary effects of fire needle therapy on mild-moderate BPH.

Atypical extraventricular neurocytoma: A case report.

Atypical extraventricular neurocytoma (EVN) is a rare condition characterized by diffuse tumor cell hyperplasia, increased neovascularization, increased necrosis, and aggressive characteristics. We demonstrated previously that 9-acetamido-9-deoxy-N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac9NAc) is a chemically and biologically stable mimic of the 9-O-acetyl-N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5,9Ac2) of the corresponding sialoglycans. Here, a systematic nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation study was undertaken for Neu5,9Ac2-containing GM3 ganglioside glycan (GM3-glycan) and its Neu5Ac9NAc analog.

A mathematical model for HIV prevention and control among men who have sex with men in China.

In recent years, men who have sex with men (MSM) constitute a major group of HIV transmission in China. [Investigation of human brucellosis cases in newly affected counties in Sichuan province, 2015-2017].

To understand the discovery of human brucellosis cases in new affected counties in Sichuan province, 2015-2017, and provide evidences for prevention and control of human brucellosis. The incidence data and outbreak data of human brucellosis in Sichuan were collected from Chinese Infectious Disease Surveillance Reporting System, and face to face interview, telephone interview and on-line survey were conducted to collect the case information, such as epidemiological characteristics, medical care seeking. The incidence of human brucellosis in Sichuan has increased obviously since 2013, and 103 counties reported human brucellosis cases for the first time.

To analyze the current status of duplicated reporting of brucellosis in China during 2005-2017, to understand the impact of duplicated reporting on the incidence of brucellosis, analyze the possible causes of duplicated reporting, and put forward propose solutions to further improve the brucellosis surveillance data quality. Purpose: The current study aims to examine the effects of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) on the microRNA (miRNA) expression profile in the kidney tissues of rats.

Methods: Wistar rats were randomly divided into three equal experiment groups: the AGE group, the RSA group, and the control group. The rats in the AGE group and the RSA group were administered with advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and rat serum albumin (RSA) via the tail vein, respectively, whereas the control group received PBS.

The present study aimed to investigate the use of imaging biomarkers to predict the outcome of acupuncture in patients with migraine without aura (MwoA). Forty-one patients with MwoA received 4 weeks of acupuncture treatment and two brain imaging sessions at the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University. Patients kept a headache diary for 4 weeks before treatment and during acupuncture treatment.

Objective: To quantitatively evaluate the diagnostic value of variable-temperature and isothermal nucleic acid amplification techniques in the detection of schistosomiasis japonica using a meta-analysis.

Methods: The publications pertaining to the nucleic acid detection of schistosomiasis japonica were searched in electronic databases, including Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, PubMed and ScienceDirect, and the compilations and proceedings of schistosomiasis were manually searched. In addition, the citations of publications associated with the nucleic acid detection of schistosomiasis japonica were traced using a document tracing method.
