Nanocoating represents an effective strategy for creating a protective barrier on probiotic surfaces, preventing them from damage. Here, we developed HAQ microcapsules comprising Limosilactobacillus fermentum RC4, which were nanocoated with hyaluronic acid and quinoa protein. We characterized the stability and safety, and investigated the intermolecular forces and transcriptome to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the nanocoating.

Purpose: Disease relapse and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) represent significant clinical challenges for high-risk hematological malignancies (HM) patients undergoing HLA-matched sibling donor transplantation (MSDT). How to balance the effect of GVHD and Graft versus leukemia (GVL) remains unclear for high-risk HM patients receiving MSDT. Here, we conducted a retrospective study to compare the efficacy in preventing disease relapse of 2 lymphocyte-depleting antibodies (r-ATG vs p-ALG) as the GVHD prevention strategy.

Scandium (Sc) can orderly occupy interstitial sites within the Ω phase of aluminum alloys, forming a new phase that significantly enhances the thermal stability of the alloy. However, Sc is relatively expensive and rare. In this work, we employ first-principles calculations to delve into the physical essence interstitial ordering of Sc in enhancing thermal stability at the electronic level, thereby revealing the crucial factors responsible for this improvement.

  • The study aims to understand how miR-155-5p affects the growth of human submandibular gland epithelial cells in primary Sjogren's syndrome by focusing on its interaction with the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
  • Researchers utilized various assays to explore the effects of inhibiting miR-155-5p on cell viability and apoptosis in a disease model, finding that inhibiting miR-155-5p improved cell survival and reduced cell death.
  • The results suggest that blocking miR-155-5p could promote cell growth and decrease apoptosis in the context of primary Sjogren's syndrome by targeting PIK3R1 mRNA and downregulating the overactive

The hybrid CNN-transformer structures harness the global contextualization of transformers with the local feature acuity of CNNs, propelling medical image segmentation to the next level. However, the majority of research has focused on the design and composition of hybrid structures, neglecting the data structure, which enhance segmentation performance, optimize resource efficiency, and bolster model generalization and interpretability. In this work, we propose a data-oriented octree inverse hierarchical order aggregation hybrid transformer-CNN (nnU-OctTN), which focuses on delving deeply into the data itself to identify and harness potential.

Detection of biomarkers of breast cancer incurs additional costs and tissue burden. We propose a deep learning-based algorithm (BBMIL) to predict classical biomarkers, immunotherapy-associated gene signatures, and prognosis-associated subtypes directly from hematoxylin and eosin stained histopathology images. BBMIL showed the best performance among comparative algorithms on the prediction of classical biomarkers, immunotherapy related gene signatures, and subtypes.

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs), mainly including Huntington's disease (HD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Alzheimer's disease (AD), are sporadic and rare genetic disorders of the central nervous system. A key feature of these conditions is the slow accumulation of misfolded protein deposits in brain neurons, the excessive aggregation of which leads to neurotoxicity and further disorders of the nervous system.

Two-dimensional antiferromagnetic materials have attracted wide attention in both performance and application, which are of great significance for spin valves and next-generation magnetic random access memory devices. The spin-phonon coupling effect plays a crucial role in magnon dynamics. However, there is still a lack of research on the spin-phonon coupling effect of two-dimensional antiferromagnetic flakes.

The global solar market is booming with a rapid growth in installed integrated devices, while photovoltaic (PV) systems are suffering from waste heat, which causes the decline of the photovoltaic conversion efficiency (PCE). This study presents the seamless integration of the ionic thermoelectric generator (iTEG) layer with traditional PV modules, facilitating the exploitation of waste heat and augmenting the overall power output. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the iTEG, demonstrating substantial power generation and a consistent energy output.

Individual cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) markers independently predict poor prognosis after stroke. However, the impact of a single SVD, especially cumulative SVD burden, on outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after intravenous thrombolysis remains unclear. This study evaluated the occurrence of SVD in patients with AIS who were treated with intravenous thrombolytic therapy using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging.

Sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP) is less malignant and usually occur in the maxillary sinus. However, cases invading the pterygopalatine fossa are extremely rare. In this article, we describe a rare case of a man in his early 60s who presented with left nasal congestion, headache, epistaxis, and facial numbness.

  • - The study aimed to investigate the genetic cause of Nemaline myopathy in a 2-month-old girl who presented with symptoms like persistent phlegm and muscle tone reduction.
  • - Whole exome sequencing revealed that the child carried two harmful variants of the NEB gene, inherited from her asymptomatic parents, confirming a diagnosis of rod-like myopathy.
  • - The findings enhance understanding of the child's condition and provide important information for her family's genetic counseling and reproductive choices.

Background: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA)-targeted chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T-cell) therapy has exhibited remarkable efficacy in refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma (R/R MM), but recurrence and rapid progression of disease are still observed within a short time after treatment. Long-term pomalidomide therapy, which potentiates T-cell functionality, might enhance the efficacy of BCMA CAR T-cell therapy.

Methods: We performed a single-center retrospective clinical study.

Organic molecule in solutions is the energy storage unit in the organic redox flow batteries (ORFBs), of which the aggregation is acknowledged pivotal but has been rarely investigated. By establishing a pyridinium library, the manipulation over the aggregation in solutions is investigated at the molecular level. Both theoretical calculations and physiochemical methods are used to characterize the aggregate's structure, and salient findings are as follows.

We report here an electrocatalyst that exhibits superior performance in the electrooxidation of ethanol. The reactive centers of the catalyst have a nest-type configuration with outer Zn-NC nest covering inner PtZn intermetallic compound nanoparticles loaded on carbon support (ZnNC⊂PtZn/C). The high-energy stepped facets of the inner PtZn nanoparticles confined and shaped by the outer Zn-NC nest is highly active for the critical C-C bond cleavage of ethanol in oxidation, confirmed by experimental characterizations and density functional theory calculations.

  • The study investigates the role of RNA-binding protein YBX3 in brown adipose tissue (BAT) differentiation and thermogenesis, key processes in combatting obesity and metabolic disorders.
  • YBX3 is shown to be essential for BAT function, with its loss leading to reduced thermogenesis and increased obesity, while its overexpression enhances energy expenditure.
  • The findings suggest that YBX3 stabilizes important mRNAs for amino acid metabolism, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target for obesity treatment.

Objective: To explore the effect of the "internet + health education system" in nursing care after stapler circumcision.

Methods: A total of 260 patients underwent stapler circumcision in the Outpatient Department of our hospital from January 2022 to July 2022, of whom 130 received routine nursing after operation (the control group), and the other 130 internet + medical nursing service based on the internet + health education system (the experimental group). We followed up the patients on the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 30th day after surgery, recorded their Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores within 24 hours postoperatively, their satisfaction scores with surgery and nursing, the incidence of complications and falloff of the stapler nails, and compared them between the two groups.
