Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic chronic autoimmune disease characterized by a protracted course, high rates of morbidity, and disability yet lacks effective therapeutic modalities. Levamisole (LVM), an immunomodulatory drug, has been clinically reported for its potential in RA treatment, while its therapeutic mechanism toward RA remains to be elucidated. Hence, this study provides theoretical support for the application of LVM in the treatment of RA.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: Given the limitations and adverse effects of current rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatments, there is an urgent need for safer and more effective therapeutic options. Levamisole (LVM) is a non-specific immunomodulator with potential for treating skin diseases, tumors, and autoimmune disorders. Recognizing LVM's potential despite its controversial reputation, this study aimed to investigate its safety profile and therapeutic efficacy towards RA.

This study investigated the correlation between specific gut microbial populations and STC, focusing on the Lactobacillus acidophilus to Lactobacillus johnsonii (A/J) ratio. We used four rat groups: Control (CON), Loperamide-induced STC (LOP), antibiotic-treated (ABX), and antibiotic plus Loperamide (ABX + LOP).

In this study, we compared the immunogenicity of the third different dose of COVID-19 vaccines, such as mRNA (I-I-M), adenoviral vector (I-I-A), and recombinant protein (I-I-R) vaccines, in terms of the magnitude and breadth of antibody response and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2-specific T and B cells. These studies were performed in the same clinical trial, and the samples were assessed in the same laboratory.

Researchers have achieved significant advancements in the theoretical design and performance gain of several classical approaches, but these advances are almost reaching their pinnacle. Learning-based IM approaches have emerged recently with a higher generalization to unknown graphs than conventional methods.

Here, we longitudinally analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific immune effectors during the acute infection and convalescent phases of 165 patients with COVID-19 categorized by severity. We found that early and robust SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4 and CD8 T cell responses ameliorate disease progression and shortened hospital stay, while delayed and attenuated virus-specific CD8 T cell responses are prominent severe COVID-19 features.

This pathophysiological phenomenon can precipitate an early brain injury (EBI), which is characterized by inflammation and neuronal death. Rutaecarpine (Rut), a flavonoid compound discovered in various plants, has been shown to have protective effects against SAH-induced cerebral insult in rodent models.

Developmental engineering based on endochondral ossification has been proposed as a potential strategy for repairing of critical bone defects. Bone development is driven by growth plate-mediated endochondral ossification. Under physiological conditions, growth plate chondrocytes undergo compressive forces characterized by micro-mechanics, but the regulatory effect of micro-mechanical loading on endochondral bone formation has not been investigated.

Here, based on a cohort of individuals who encountered BA.5 infection within 8 days after receiving the fourth dose of a bivalent mRNA vaccine, preceded by three doses of inactivated vaccines, we show that booster mRNA vaccination provided 48% protection efficacy against symptomatic infections.

Methods: GM data were obtained from the MiBioGen consortium and Dutch Microbiome Project while data on the six diabetic complications were obtained from the FinnGen consortium. Two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) was performed to explore the association between GM and the common diabetic complications.

Objectives: Currently, patients with pre-exsiting donor-specific antibody (DSA) are prone to antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) after surgery and are at a relatively high risk of postoperative complications and graft failure. The risk of postoperative complications and graft failure is relatively high. This study aims to discuss the clinical outcome of DSA-positive kidney transplantation and analyze the role and safety of preoperative pretreatment in DSA-positive kidney transplantation, providing single-center treatment experience for DSA-positive kidney transplantation.

Objective: To explore the relationship between short-term exposure to air pollution and CVD risk, and potential modification effect factors.
Method: A time series study was conducted on 52,991 hospital admissions for CVD from 2015 to 2019 in Xiangyang City, China.
P-coumaric acid is an important phenolic compound that is mainly found in fruits, vegetables, grains, and fungi and is also abundant in Chinese herbal medicines. In this review, the pharmacological research progress of p-coumaric acid in recent years was reviewed, with emphasis on its role and mechanism in oxidative stress-related diseases, such as inflammation, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and nervous system diseases. Studies have shown that p-coumaric acid has a positive effect on the prevention and treatment of these diseases by inhibiting oxidative stress.

In application, training data and test data collected via indoor positioning algorithms usually do not come from the same ideal conditions. Changes in various environmental conditions and signal drift can cause different probability distributions between the data sets. Existing positioning algorithms cannot guarantee stable accuracy when facing these issues, resulting in dramatic reduction and the infeasibility of the positioning accuracy of indoor location algorithms.
