Periodontitis is a chronic periodontal inflammatory disease caused by periodontal pathogens commonly seen in adults. Eupalinolide B (EB) is a sesquiterpenoid natural product extracted from Eupatorium lindleyanum and has been reported as a potential drug for cancers and immune disorders. Here, we explored the ameliorative effects and underlying molecular mechanism of EB on periodontitis for the first time.

Herein, we report that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L-like (hnRNPLL) expression significantly increases at the invasion forefront in PDAC and is associated with early metastasis and poor prognosis. Our findings revealed that hnRNPLL knockdown resulted in extensive exon skipping (ES) events.

Currently, from the perspective of regulating senescent cells, potent compounds or reliable protein targets that could effectively prevent skin photoaging have not yet been reported. Herein, we demonstrated that chlorogenic acid (CGA) significantly inhibited UVA-induced senescence of human dermis skin fibroblasts (HDF) cells by screening the natural product library.

Guben Kechuan (GK) granule is a clinically proven formula for treating lung disease. It relieves cough and helps to clear phlegm, but the mechanisms underlying its treatment for asthma are not clear.

Methods: Based on the AIT rat model, the effect of BL in alleviating AIT was evaluated by detecting serum thyroid index free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), and inflammatory factors Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), Interleukin-4, -10, and -12 (IL-4, IL-10, and IL-12) as well as thyroid tissue Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and ultrastructure observation. The mechanism of BL was explored by combining transcriptome and proteome analysis, and further verified by Western blot (WB).

Accumulating evidence shows that neuroinflammation substantially contributes to the pathology of depression, a severe psychiatric disease with an increasing prevalence worldwide. Although modulating microglial phenotypes is recognized as a promising therapeutic strategy, effective treatments are still lacking. Previous studies have shown that luteolin (LUT) has anti-inflammatory effects and confers benefits on chronic stress-induced depression.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOvarian endometrioma (OE), also known as "chocolate cysts," is a cystic mass that develops in the ovaries due to endometriosis and is a common gynecological condition characterized by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, leading to symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, and infertility. However, the precise molecular and cellular mechanisms driving this pathophysiology remain largely unknown, posing challenges for diagnosis and treatment. Here, we employed integrated single-cell transcriptomic profiling of over 52,000 individual cells from endometrial tissues of OE patients and healthy donors and identified twelve major cell populations.

The emerging variants Omicron and its sublineage have a greater ability to spread and escape nearly all current monoclonal antibodies treatments, highlighting an urgent need to develop therapeutics targeting current and emerging Omicron variants or recombinants with breadth and potency. Here, some small molecule drugs are rapidly identified that could covalently binding to receptor binding domain (RBD) protein of Omicron through the combined application of artificial intelligence (AI) and activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) technology.

Defects in N-glycosylation are directly linked to various human diseases. Despite the importance of quantifying N-glycans with high precision, existing glycoinformatics tools are limited.

Dihydroartemisinin (DHA), the active metabolite of artemisinin, has exhibited outstanding suppressive effects on RA without obvious side effects. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, which limits its further clinical application.

Although the development of tyrosine kinase inhibitors has markedly improved the prognosis of CML patients, it remains a significant challenge to overcome drug-resistant mutations, such as the T315I mutation of BCR-ABL, and achieve treatment-free remission in the clinic.
Purpose: The identification of new intervention targets beyond BCR-ABL could provide new perspectives for future research and therapeutic intervention.
Photothermal therapy (PTT) for cancers guided by optical imaging has recently shown great potential for precise diagnosis and efficient therapy. The second near-infrared window (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) fluorescence imaging (FLI) is highly desirable owing to its good spatial and temporal resolution, deep tissue penetration, and negligible tissue toxicity. Organic small molecules are attractive as imaging and treatment agents in biomedical research because of their low toxicity, fast clearance rate, diverse structures, ease of modification, and excellent biocompatibility.

Among these tissues, the activation status of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) is crucial. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) agents have been proven to have excellent anti-fibrosis effects, but their targets are unclear.

The study encompassed the photoluminescence behavior, elemental composition, chemical valence, morphology, and phase purity of SrAlO:Eu, Nd nanoparticles. The results demonstrate that after introducing Eu into the matrix lattice, it exhibits an emission band centered at 508 nm when excited by 365 nm ultraviolet light, which is induced by the 4f5d→4f transition of Eu ions.

Currently, available treatments primarily provide symptomatic relief and retard disease progression, yet they do not offer a cure and are frequently associated with adverse effects. Therefore, the discovery of new targets and therapeutic drugs for IBD is crucial.
