Objective: To explore the value of serum Dickkopf-3 (sDKK3) in predicting Early Neurological Deterioration (END) and in-hospital adverse outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients.
Methods: AIS patients (n = 200) were included and assessed by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Rating Scale. Serum Dkk3 levels were assessed by ELISA.
Background: Diarrhea is a common complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and is associated with substantial morbidity, but its etiology is often unknown. Etiologies of diarrhea in this population include infectious causes, chemotherapy- or medication-induced mucosal injury and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Distinguishing these potential causes of diarrhea is challenging since diarrheal symptoms are often multifactorial, and the etiologies often overlap in transplant patients.

Safinamide, a new drug recently introduced for PD treatment, has demonstrated analgesic effects on pain in PD patients, though the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. To investigate the analgesic and anti-PD effect of safinamide, 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced PD mouse model was used, and rasagiline as positive control on motor symptoms.

This study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy of Tuina and IF electrotherapy in the treatment of stage II frozen shoulder and to provide evidence-based treatment for FS.
Methods: The FS patients were randomized into two groups, the observation group, which received Tuina, and the control group, which received IF electrotherapy.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive disease with high mortality and limited therapeutic options. The immune checkpoint PD1/PD-L1 axis is related to the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis, and upregulated expression levels of PD-L1 have been demonstrated in IPF patients. However, the mechanism of PD-L1 in pulmonary fibrosis is not fully understood.

However, the oral bioaccessibility and gingival cytotoxicity of heavy metals in wild vegetables remain unclear.
Methods: In this study, we assessed the total and bioaccessible Cr, As, Cd, Pb, and Ni in four wild vegetables from mining areas in Southwest China.
Purpose: High explosives are used to produce blast waves to study their biological effects. The lungs are considered as the critical target organ in blast-effect studies. The degree of lung hemorrhaging is related to both the explosive power and the increased lung weight.

Materials And Methods: The isolated cells from the normal dermal tissue and the wound tissue of mouse with full-thickness skin wound, and human scar tissue sections were performed with CD31/factorVII and α-SMA immunohistochemical staining and H and E staining.
Background: The difference between MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging)-R2* and T2 mapping sequences regarding their superiority in the detection of microstructural cartilage changes in knees with limited ROM (range of motion) was unknown.
Methods: Twenty male cynomolgus monkeys (mean age: 10.65 ± 0.

Background: Pulmonary fibrosis is difficult to treat. Early diagnosis and finding potential drug therapy targets of pulmonary fibrosis are particularly important. There were still various problems with existing pulmonary fibrosis markers, so it is particularly important to find new biomarkers and drug treatment targets.

PD-1/PD-L1 blockade has become an important therapy in the anti-cancer armamentarium. However, some patients do not benefit from PD-1/PD-L1 blockade despite expressing PD-L1.

There have been new developments since the initial publication. To integrate recent developments and further improve the consensus, a panel of experts from the CSH recently updated the consensus recommendations, which are summarized as follows: (1) there is a new algorithm for selecting appropriate donors for allo-HSCT candidates.

Previous studies have shown that the dual functional protein apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) promotes tumor metastasis and is overexpressed in cervical cancer. However, the biological role and mechanism of APE1 in cervical cancer metastasis have rarely been studied.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFMS-like tyrosine kinase 3-internal tandem duplication (FLT3-ITD) is one of the most common somatic mutations in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, the molecular structure characteristics and widely accepted prognostic factors for FLT3-ITD are still not well described. This study aimed to retrospectively examine 81 patients with FLT3-ITD-positive AML diagnosed and treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from December 2013 to March 2018 using the next-generation sequencing 185-gene platform.

Matching donor and recipient HLA alleles is considered optimal to reduce the risk of GVHD after HSCT but is not always possible. Only a limited number of studies have compared the influence of HLA disparities on HSCT outcomes for patients with JMML.

HK-2 cells cultured were injured with 2.6 mmol/L oxalic acid to establish a damaged cell model.

Particulate pollution in the air has strong links with increased morbidity of cardiopulmonary diseases. Iron is one of the major carcinogens in air pollution and can produce hydroxyl radical which induce oxidative stress, lead to cell damage and even to cancer. In this work, a novel nitronyl nitroxide radical NITPh(OMe) (2-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -4,4,5,5- tetramethylimidazoline- 1- oxyl-3- oxide) was prepared and characterized by electron spin-resonance spectroscopy (ESR), X-ray crystal diffraction, Fourier transform infrared (IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), elemental analysis, ultraviolet and visible spectra (UV-Vis), and the electronic transition processes was also calculated by time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) to analysis UV-Vis spectrum.

Studies have revealed that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a crucial cellular event in IPF. Here, we identified that the pulmonary fibrosis inducer bleomycin simultaneously increased the expression of bFGF and TGF-β1 and inhibited epithelial-specific regulatory protein (ESRP1) expression in vivo and in vitro.

Giant cell tumors of bone (GCTBs) exhibit high recurrence and aggressive bone lytic behavior; but, the mechanism of GCTB progression is largely unknown. In GCTB, we detected abundant levels of miR-125a, which were associated with tumor extension, grade, and recurrence. miR-125a stimulates stromal cell tumorigenicity and growth in vivo by promoting the expression of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and β-catenin.

Herein, we aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms of lung fibrosis mediated by EMT, with a focus on the alternative splicing of fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2), using bleomycin (BLM)-induced lung fibrotic and transgenic mouse models. We employed BLM-induced and surfactant protein C (SPC)-Cre and LacZ double transgenic mouse models.
