Many bacteriophages modulate host transcription to favor expression of their own genomes. Phage satellite P4 polarity suppression protein, Psu, a building block of the viral capsid, inhibits hexameric transcription termination factor, ρ, by presently unknown mechanisms. Our cryogenic electron microscopy structures of ρ-Psu complexes show that Psu dimers clamp two inactive, open ρ rings and promote their expansion to higher-oligomeric states.

Hydroxylamine (NH2OH) is a key intermediate in the formation of numerous high value-added organonitrogen compounds. The traditional synthesis of NH2OH requires the use of precious metals under high temperature conditions, which leads to high cost, high energy consumption, and environmental pollution. The NH2OH-mediated cascade reaction integrates the electrochemical synthesis of NH2OH and the chemical synthesis of organonitrogen compounds, offering a facile, green, and efficient alternative.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), as a minimally invasive surgery strategy based on local thermal-killing effect, is widely used in the clinical treatment of multiple solid tumors. Nevertheless, RFA cannot achieve the complete elimination of tumor lesions with larger burden or proximity to blood vessels. Incomplete RFA (iRFA) has even been validated to promote residual tumor growth due to the suppressive tumor immune microenvironment (TIME).

Independent pitch control (IPC) is a crucial technology for enhancing the performance of wind turbines, optimizing the power output, and reducing the loads by managing each blade. This paper explores the primary vibration modes of semi-submersible wind turbines under wind-wave coupling. Given the effectiveness of pitch control in vibration suppression, this paper addresses the limitations of conventional collective pitch control (CPC) by designing an independent pitch control method based on an equivalent wind speed model (EWIPC).

Objective: Arthritis is a class of diseases, characterized by joint and surrounding inflammation, accompanied by joint swelling, pain, dysfunction. According to different factors, arthritis can be divided into osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and so on. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common internal modification of eukaryotic mRNA and is involved in splicing, stabilization, output and degradation of RNA metabolism.

Rapamycin is an important natural macrolide antibiotic with antifungal, immunosuppressive and antitumor activities produced by Streptomyces rapamycinicus. However, their prospective applications are limited by low fermentation units. In this study, we found that the exogenous aromatic amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine could effectively increase the yield of rapamycin in industrial microbial fermentation.

The telomeric G-quadruplex (G4) along with the telomerase catalytic subunit hTERT are crucial in the extension of telomeres. Tumor cells can establish replicative immortality by activating the telomere-maintenance mechanism (TMM).Small molecule ligands can limit cancer telomere lengthening by by targeting at G4 and hTERT.

The introduction of defects in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is an effective method to improve the performance of MOFs in many applications, but it also compromises the mechanical properties of MOFs. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical properties of defective MOFs becomes important for the defect engineering in MOFs. Herein, using the in situ compression tests, we directly observe very different mechanical responses in HKUST-1 MOFs with various defect concentrations.

The analysis of protein phosphorylation and glycosylation is critical for investigating disease development. In this work, 1,2-epoxy-5-hexene and ,-methylenebisacrylamide were polymerized with vinyl phosphate to produce a polymer (denoted as PVME), which contained a variety of hydrophilic groups. The material's hydrophilicity was further enhanced by a ring-opening reaction with cysteine (the product was denoted as Cys-PVEM).

This review article presents a detailed examination of the integral role that electrochemical detection of extracellular vesicles (EVs) plays, particularly focusing on the potential application for early disease diagnostics through EVs biomarker analysis. Through an exploration of the benefits and challenges presented by electrochemical detection vetted for protein, lipid, and nucleic acid biomarker analysis, we underscore the significance of these techniques. Evidence from recent studies renders this detection modality imperative in identifying diverse biomarkers from EVs, leading to early diagnosis of diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

With the rapid development of hydrogen pipelines, their safety issues have become increasingly prominent. In order to evaluate the properties of pipeline materials under a high-pressure hydrogen environment, this study investigates the hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity of X70 welded pipe in a 10 MPa high-pressure hydrogen environment, using slow strain rate testing (SSRT) and low-cycle fatigue (LCF) analysis. The microstructure, slow tensile and fatigue fracture morphology of base metal (BM) and weld metal (WM) were characterized and analyzed by means of ultra-depth microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD), and transmission electron microscope (TEM).

Here we experimentally demonstrate the dynamics of Bloch-Zener oscillations (BZOs) in a synthetic temporal lattice formed by the optical pulses in coupled fiber loops. By periodically modulating the phases imposed to the optical pulses in linear driven lattices, a two-band Floquet system with tunable bandgaps is realized, and the related BZOs that occurred in this system are displayed. On this basis, by manipulating the phase difference and coupling angle of the synthetic lattice, the widths of 0-gap and -gap are tuned feasibly so that a wide variety of the interplays between Bloch oscillations and Landau-Zener tunneling (LZT) are exhibited.
