Short-term ambient fine particulate matter (PM) exposure has been related to an increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) death, but which PM constituents are associated with MI death and to what extent remain unclear. We aimed to explore the associations of short-term exposure to PM constituents with MI death and evaluate excess mortality. We conducted a time-stratified case-crossover study on 237,492 MI decedents in Jiangsu province, China during 2015-2021.

Recent studies have demonstrated the biological significance of cuproptosis modification, a newly discovered programmed cell death, in tumor progression. Nonetheless, the potential role of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in the immune landscape and tumor microenvironment (TME) formation of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unknown. We comprehensively assessed cuproptosis modification patterns of 1339 CRC samples based on 27 CRGs and systematically analyzed the correlation of these patterns with TME.

Background: Recent studies have reported conflicting associations between egg consumption and the risk of all-cause or cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, including ischemic heart disease (IHD) mortality and stroke mortality. With accumulating evidence, up-to-date evidence about the association should be synthesized.

Objectives: We aimed to assess the association of the risk of all-cause and CVD mortality with egg consumption.

In view of the spatiotemporal limitations of traditional healthcare services, the use of wireless communication has become one of the main development directions for the medical system. Compared with the traditional methods, applying the potential and benefits of the wireless sensor networks has more advantages such as low cost, simplicity, and flexible data acquisition. However, due to the limited resources of the individual wireless sensor nodes, traditional security solutions for defending against internal attacks cannot be directly used in healthcare based wireless sensor networks.

The MTHFR gene encodes methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase required for the metabolism of homocysteine (Hcy) - a previously reported independent risk factor for ischemic stroke (IS). In this study, we first aimed to clarify the association between DNA methylation levels in the MTHFR promoter and the risk of IS, followed by the analysis of potential interactions between environmental factors and DNA methylation levels that affect IS risk. We recruited 164 patients with hypertension and IS (case group) and 345 age-matched and sex-matched patients with hypertension only (control group).
