One of the major variables affecting yield of the mushroom is the casing layer, which directly affects the productivity and mass. Here, volatile organic compounds were extracted by headspace solid-phase microextraction and high-throughput sequencing was used to analyze the microbial community diversity. The relationship between mushroom yield at different cropping stages and the contents of volatile organic compounds and microorganisms in three different casing layers: peat, peat + soil and soil were systematically evaluated.

The long-term leachability of four metals (Zn, Pb, Cd and As) in sediments mixed with OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and OPC/GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) binders were investigated through a combination of tank leaching tests and kinetic leaching models, with varying ranges of curing ages and ambient pH. The leaching data revealed that both binder compositions offer an excellent immobilization capacity for the four metals, while their releases are strongly pH-dependent and are a complex function of curing time.

A series of tests were conducted on the samples prepared from S/S sediment grains (SG), which was obtained by crushing the cement treated sediment. By sampling the SG with different field-curing durations (t1: 28, 35, 56 and 98 days) and measuring them by unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests, the effect of t1 on the UCS was investigated.

The stabilization/solidification method was investigated as a sustainable approach to the recycling of the sediment as a construction material. A systematic study of the factors affecting the mechanical performance and contaminant release was performed.

Stable PAMAM (polyamidoamine) capped ZnS (zinc sulfide) QDs (quantum dots) were prepared and characterized with UV-Vis spectrum and PL(photoluminescence) emission spectrum on the base of coordination of Zn2+ ions with PAMAM dendrimers. The results show that Zn2+ ions coordinated with N atoms of PAMAM ligand and the saturated coordinating time is about 6 h; PAMAM capped ZnS QDs emitted strong blue light under the irradiation of UV light at the wavelength of 365 nm, and the PL emission peak is at about 500 nm. Finally, the prepared PAMAM capped ZnS QDs were applied in the fluorescent labeling of latent fingerprints on tinfoils; Latent fingerprints emitting strong blue light and were successfully detected with good resolving rate.
