Nitric oxide (·NO) is one of the toxic metabolites that bacteria can be exposed to within phagosomes. Gre factors, which are also known as transcript cleavage factors or transcription elongation factors, relieve back-tracked transcription elongation complexes by cleaving nascent RNAs, which allows transcription to resume after stalling. Here we discovered that loss of both Gre factors in , GreA and GreB, significantly compromised ·NO detoxification due to ·NO-induced phenotypic heterogeneity in ΔΔ populations, which did not occur in wild-type cultures.

Photocurrent-polarity conversion strategies are typically realized by constructing complex photovoltaic electrodes or changing the relevant conditions, but most involve poor photogenerated carrier transfer efficiency and cumbersome experimental steps. To this end, a photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor by utilizing ascorbic acid (AA)-induced photocurrent-polarity-switching was proposed for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). Under light excitation, the electron donor AA was oxidized by the photogenerated holes of photoactive material Co-NC/CdS, resulting in the conversion of cathodic photocurrent to the anodic direction.

We report a simple and convenient N-terminal thiazolidine (Thz) deprotection strategy and its application in one-pot multisegment ligation. In this strategy, -benzylhydroxylamine (O-BHA) is used to efficiently and rapidly convert Thz into N-terminal cysteine. O-BHA can be easily separated from the ligation buffer by organic solvent extraction, avoiding the degradation of the peptide thioester by O-BHA.

Between 2013 and 2018, the novel A/Anhui/1/2013 (AH/13)-lineage H7N9 virus caused at least five waves of outbreaks in humans, totaling 1,567 confirmed human cases in China. Surveillance data indicated a disproportionate distribution of poultry infected with this AH/13-lineage virus, and laboratory experiments demonstrated that this virus can efficiently spread among chickens but not among Pekin ducks. The underlying mechanism of this selective transmission remains unclear.

Dimeric acceptors are expected to satisfy both excellent power conversion efficiency (PCE) and operational stability of organic solar cells (OSCs). However, comparing to highly planar and symmetrical monomer-like acceptors, the quite different steric/spatial configurations of dimeric acceptors affect device outcomes greatly. Herein, on basis of the same dimeric molecular platform that constructed by bridging central units of two monomer-like acceptor, diverse substituents (─OCH for D1, ─CH for D2, and ─CF for D3) are grafted on central units to regulate the three dimensions (3D) geometries of dimeric acceptors delicately.
