Patients who may benefit from food insecurity resources may be identified via ED-based screening; however, many patients experience difficulty accessing resources after discharge. Co-locating resources in or near the ED may improve utilization by patients, but this approach remains largely unstudied.

National COVID Cohort Collaborative Data Enhancements: A Path for Expanding Common Data Models.

Introduction: To support long COVID research in National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C), the N3C Phenotype and Data Acquisition team created data designs to aid contributing sites in enhancing their data. Enhancements include: long COVID specialty clinic indicator; Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) transactions; patient-level social determinants of health; and in-hospital use of oxygen supplementation.

Methods: For each enhancement, we defined the scope and wrote guidance on how to prepare and populate the data in a standardized way.

Canonical RAS signaling, including PI3K/AKT- and RAF/MEK-dependent activities, results mainly from RAS•GTP interaction with its effectors at the plasma membrane. Here, we identified a fundamental, oncogenic, noncanonical RAS•GTP activity that increases XPO1-dependent export of nuclear protein cargo into the cytoplasm and is independent of PI3K/AKT and RAF/MEK signaling. This RAS-dependent step acts downstream from XPO1 binding to nuclear protein cargo and is mediated by a perinuclear protein complex between RAS•GTP and RanGAP1 that facilitates hydrolysis of Ran•GTP to Ran•GDP, which promotes release of nuclear protein cargo into the cytoplasm.

Partial-assist ankle exoskeletons have been limited by inherent trade-offs between favorable characteristics including high torque capacity, high control bandwidth, back-drivability, compliance, and low mass. Emerging quasi-direct drive actuators have a rigid transmission with a low gear ratio, enabling inherent backdrivability and compliance with accurate torque and position control. Our existing modular, backdrivable exoskeleton system () uses quasi-direct drive actuators at the hip and/or knee to deliver high assistive torques alongside low dynamic backdrive torques, enabling natural interaction with users with remnant voluntary motion.

Background: Anxiety symptoms and disorders are common in the UK. Whilst waiting for, or alongside, treatments such as anxiolytics or psychological therapies, people often self-manage anxiety symptoms with products purchased over-the-counter (OTC), such as herbal medicines or dietary supplements. However, the evidence for these products is often presented across different reviews and is not easy for patients or healthcare professionals to compare and understand.

Experiences and access of palliative and end of life care for older people from minority ethnic groups: a scoping review.

Background: Many older people from minority ethnic groups experience inequalities towards the end of life, including barriers to accessing palliative care. With levels of international migration increasing, there is a need to understand these differences and consider the needs of minority ethnic groups in healthcare policies. This review aimed to map evidence on how older people from minority ethnic groups access and utilise palliative and end of life care, preferences for palliative and end of life care, experiences of palliative and end of life care, and how this varies between minority ethnic groups in different countries, and with different health conditions.

Stimuli-Responsive Phosphate Hydrogel: A Study on Swelling Behavior, Mechanical Properties, and Application in Expansion Microscopy.

Phosphorus-based stimuli-responsive hydrogels have potential in a wide range of applications due to their ionizable phosphorus groups, biocompatibility, and tunable swelling capacity utilizing hydrogel design parameters and external stimuli. In this study, poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphate) (PMOEP) hydrogels were synthesized via aqueous activators regenerated by electron transfer atomic transfer radical polymerization using ascorbic acid as the reducing agent. Swelling and deswelling behaviors of PMOEP hydrogels were examined in different salt solutions, pH conditions, and temperatures.

Introduction: The purpose of the study is to assess the role of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) imaging on the surgical management of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) and to evaluate whether breast density and background parenchymal enhancement (BPE) influence surgical treatment.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 56 patients who were diagnosed with ILC between 2014 and 2020. All patients had mammogram and ultrasound.

Frailty describes a health state related to ageing where people become less resilient to health challenges and more likely to have adverse outcomes if they become unwell. People experiencing homelessness (PEH) are known to have poor health, with research suggesting that many become frail at a younger age than the general population. Previous research using small-scale primary data collection suggests that the prevalence of frailty in homeless populations varies widely (16-55%), with variations in sample sizes and settings partially accounting for differences in current estimates.

Here, we apply biophysical methods to characterize the structure and dynamic properties of the CD28 CAR hinge (CD28H) used in an FDA-approved CD19 CAR for the treatment of B-lineage leukemia/lymphoma.

Process evaluation of a New psychosocial goal-setting and manualised support intervention for Independence in Dementia (NIDUS-Family).

Introduction: We report a mixed-methods process evaluation embedded within a randomised controlled trial. We aimed to test and refine a theory of change model hypothesising key causal assumptions to understand how the New Interventions for Independence in Dementia Study (NIDUS)-Family (a manualised, multimodal psychosocial intervention), was effective relative to usual care, on the primary outcome of Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) over 1 year.

Given the role of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) as an essential cofactor for drug detoxification, we sought to test whether boosting the NAD(P) metabolome could protect ovarian function. We show that pharmacological or transgenic strategies to replenish the NAD metabolome ameliorates chemotherapy induced female infertility in mice, as measured by oocyte yield, follicle health, and functional breeding trials.

Little is known about the impacts of living in diaspora from the Hawaiian Islands on Native Hawaiian health. To address this, the authors conducted an exploratory analysis using cross-sectional data from the 2021 Native American COVID-19 Alliance Needs Assessment. A total of 1418 participants identified as Native Hawaiian (alone or in any combination), of which 1222 reported residency in the continental US and 196 in Hawai'i.
