Aim: Climate change poses a major threat to human health, with significant contributions from healthcare systems, with the UK National Health Service (NHS) accounting for 4% of national CO emissions. Radiology departments, with high energy consumption from heating, ventilation, cooling (HVAC), and scanners, also contribute significantly. Workstations, though less power-intensive than scanners, are numerous and offer an avenue for emission reduction potential.

Discordance in perception of disease activity between adolescent patients with lupus and their providers may influence disease outcomes. We found that patients endorsed higher perceptions of disease activity than providers. Discordance was present at all levels of disease activity, particularly in patients with high activity, nephritis, and/or taking corticosteroids or mycophenolate mofetil.

Objective: Lateral neck dissection (LND) is performed for staging/treatment of head and neck lesions. This traditionally includes placement of a drain and inpatient admission. Drainless, day-case head and neck surgery is attractive due to cost-effectiveness and reduced length of stay, but evidence is lacking in LND.

Article Synopsis
  • Emergency departments are prone to diagnostic errors due to poor communication between patients and the care team, which the study aims to address.* -
  • Using the eDelphi method, experts developed a revised diagnostic decision-making framework that emphasizes communication and identifies breakdown points throughout the patient journey in the ED.* -
  • The final framework highlights critical types of communication and suggests three categories of interventions—patient-facing, clinician-facing, and system-facing—to enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce errors in emergency care.*

Starting in 2015, pediatric rheumatology fellowship training programs were required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to assess fellows' academic performance within 21 subcompetencies falling under six competency domains. Each subcompetency had four or five milestone levels describing developmental progression of knowledge and skill acquisition. Milestones were standardized across all pediatric subspecialties.

WEE1 kinase phosphorylates CDK1 and CDK2 to regulate origin firing and mitotic entry. Inhibition of WEE1 has become an attractive target for cancer therapy due to the simultaneous induction of replication stress and inhibition of the G2/M checkpoint. WEE1 inhibition in cancer cells with high levels of replication stress results in induction of replication catastrophe and mitotic catastrophe.

Article Synopsis
  • Axolotls can regrow their limbs, and a special group of cells called "senescent cells" helps this process by creating a supportive environment for new cells to grow.
  • Scientists studied how these senescent cells work and found they send out signals that help other cells multiply instead of aging.
  • This research helps us understand how axolotls regenerate complex body parts and how these tiny "helper" cells contribute to that amazing ability.
