Early failure of a bioprosthetic aortic valve due to thrombus formation while on rivaroxaban.

There is increasing evidence that bioprosthetic valve thrombosis (BPVT) is more common than previously thought. However, there are very few cases describing the occurrence of BPVT on therapeutic anticoagulation, and no previous cases are available stating the occurrence of BPVT on direct oral anticoagulant therapy. We describe the case of surgically managed aortic BPVT that was diagnosed while the patient was on rivaroxaban.

Angiosarcoma of the right atrium: a diagnostic dilemma.

Angiosarcomas of the heart are rare and usually fatal. We describe a case where cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging was crucial in making the diagnosis. Surgical resection was performed and the diagnosis was confirmed by histology.

[Rheolytic percutaneous thrombectomy with Angiojet (Possis) catheter in acute coronary syndromes. Report of 3 cases and technical considerations].

Mechanical thrombolysis in acute coronary syndromes is poorly understood and is still considerably underused in interventional cardiology. The authors report 3 cases of thrombotic coronary obstruction successfully treated with the Possis Angiojet system. In the first case, coronary angiography which demonstrated a large subocclusive thrombus in the mid right coronary artery was performed in a patient with unstable angina following acute myocardial infarction.
