Radioguided Occult Lesion Localization Technique for Biopsy of Nonpalpable Subcutaneous Lesions in Suspected Metastatic Melanoma.

Summary: In patients with a history of melanoma, the risk of recurrence depends on the stage at diagnosis. Patients who present with more advanced disease are more likely to experience recurrence; patients with less advanced disease at presentation have slower progression and lower likelihood of recurrence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of a minimally invasive and targeted technique as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for the excision of nonpalpable lesions suspected to be melanoma metastases.
