CREB-regulated transcription co-activator (CRTC) is activated by Calcineurin (CaN) to regulate gluconeogenic genes. CaN also has roles in cardiac hypertrophy. Here, we explore a cardiac-autonomous role for CRTC in cardiac hypertrophy.

However, "life-threatening hemoptysis" includes any volume that leads to features such as airway obstruction, hypoxia, or hemodynamic instability. We present a case of life-threatening hemoptysis in a 65-year-old male with a history of benign prostatic hyperplasia and uncontrolled hypertension.

The impact of irradiation (IR) on ECs varies depending on the dose administered. High doses can directly damage ECs, leading to EC impairment.

CaN is known its role in pathological cardiac hypertrophy, however, a role for CRTC in the heart has not been identified.

Here we describe the case of a 68-year-old female who developed a spinal epidural abscess one month following cervical spinal decompression and fusion. The patient presented with decreased grip strength, flaccid paralysis of the lower extremities with hyporeflexia, urinary incontinence, and decreased sensation in the bilateral lower extremities.

PXVX0047 consists of a modernized, plasmid-derived vaccine that was generated using a virus isolated from Wyeth Ad4 and Ad7 vaccine tablets. A phase 1 two-arm, randomized, double-blind, active-controlled study was conducted to evaluate the safety profile and immunogenicity of the investigational adenovirus vaccines.

During her hospitalization, troponins trended up and an electrocardiogram (ECG) showed diffuse ST elevation. Echocardiogram showed an estimated ejection fraction of 40% with hypokinesis of the apex, suggestive of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.

Methods And Results: In a woman in her 60s with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, T410A/ was found in screening for variants in 59 cardiomyopathy-related genes. Her son in his 40s, two granddaughters and two great grandsons carried T410A/.
One of the primary ways in which climate change will impact coastal freshwater wetlands is through changes in the frequency, intensity, timing and distribution of extreme weather events. Disentangling the direct and indirect mechanisms of population- and community-level responses to extreme events is vital to predicting how species composition of coastal wetlands will change under future conditions. We extended static structural equation modelling approaches to incorporate system dynamics in a multi-year multispecies occupancy model to quantify the effects of extreme weather events on a coastal freshwater wetland system.

A number of and species associated with ticks, fleas, lice, and mites have been detected in, or isolated from, patients with febrile illness and/or animal reservoirs throughout the world. Mosquitoes are not currently considered vectors for spp.

A CT chest demonstrated a left lung mass and left pleural effusion, which was initially suspected to be lung malignancy given his symptoms and history. However, it was determined to be a lung abscess following workup and consultations.

In the last 30 years, afforestation on grasslands across Great Britain has been increasing, motivated by socio-economic reasons and climate change mitigation. Beyond expected benefits, an obvious question is what are the consequences for wider biodiversity of this scale of landscape change.

Using a heterologous prime-boost strategy in rhesus macaques, we examine the effect of priming with DENV purified inactivated vaccines (PIVs) on a tetravalent live attenuated vaccine (LAV). Sera exhibited low-level neutralizing antibodies (NAb) post PIV priming, yet moderate to high in vitro ADE activity.

It is therefore imperative that Special Operations medical personnel be aware of the presence of emerging pathogens within their area of operation. Drosophila can be sent to space in large numbers to examine the effects of microgravity on heart structure and function, which is fundamentally conserved from flies to humans. Flies reared in microgravity exhibit cardiac constriction with myofibrillar remodeling and diminished output.

Building road networks in developing countries is commonly a priority for international development funding based on anticipated socio-economic benefits. Yet the resulting erosion from roads, which recent studies have shown result in at least ten-fold increases in erosion rates, is not fully accounted for.

Filtering for rare variants and altered expression in proband iPSCs prioritized 10 candidates.
