Introduction: Chemotherapy toxicity tools are rarely studied in patients with hematologic malignancy (HM). The primary aim of this pilot study was to determine the predictive ability of the Cancer and Aging Research Group (CARG) chemo-toxicity calculator in estimating grade 3-5 toxicity in patients with HM.
Materials And Methods: Patients 60 years and older with HM were prospectively evaluated using the CARG chemo-toxicity calculator.
Background: Fewer minoritized patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) receive kidney transplantation (KT); efforts to mitigate disparities have thus far failed. Pinpointing the specific stage(s) within the transplant care continuum (being informed of KT options, joining the waiting list, to receiving KT) where disparities emerge among each minoritized population is pivotal for achieving equity. Methods: We conducted the largest genome-wide association study of cNCS followed by replication, fine mapping, and functional validation of the most significant region using zebrafish animal model.
Results: Genome-wide association study identified 6 independent genome-wide-significant risk alleles, 4 on chromosome 7q21.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: Recent advances in biomarker research have improved the diagnosis and monitoring of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but in vivo biomarker-based workflows to assess 4R-tauopathy (4RT) patients are currently missing. We suggest a novel biomarker-based algorithm to characterize AD and 4RTs.
Methods: We cross-sectionally assessed combinations of cerebrospinal fluid measures (CSF p-tau and t-tau) and F-PI-2620 tau-positron emission tomography (PET) in patients with AD (n = 64), clinically suspected 4RTs (progressive supranuclear palsy or corticobasal syndrome, n = 82) and healthy controls (n = 19).
Hepatitis C virus (HCV), the most common blood-borne infection, disproportionately affects people experiencing homelessness (PEH); however, HCV interventions tailored for PEH are scarce. Background: Annually since 2008; over 38% of fatally injured motorcycle riders and 20% of pedalcyclists involved in traffic crashes were under the influence of alcohol, yet public health surveillance of alcohol involvement in these injuries is underdeveloped. This study determined alcohol involvement among fatally and non-fatally injured pedalcycle and motorcycle riders and compared findings across three national public-use datasets.
Methods: Using the 2019 National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS), the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), and National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) datasets, we identified alcohol involvement in fatal and non-fatal injuries to pedalcycle and motorcycle riders (≥21 years).
