Introduction: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a relapsing, debilitating blood cancer which remains incurable despite advances in treatments. Patients typically receive multiple lines of treatment, to which they become refractory, thereby limiting treatment options. B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) represent a novel modality of treatment that has significant efficacy for relapsed or refractory patients.

Donor chimerism is utilized early after transplantation to evaluate engraftment and to monitor the persistence of donor hematopoiesis.
Objective(s): Literature is conflicting regarding to the prognostic utility of early mixed donor chimerism, chimerism kinetic patterns as well as factors associated with it and we sought to clarify this uncertainty.
Black boys and young men are disproportionately burdened with navigating contexts of community violence resulting from race-based structural inequities and concentrated disadvantage. Despite this chronic adversity, many Black boys and young men thrive; however, resilience research has traditionally focused on identifying individual- and family-level factors that support resilience. Research has yet to fully examine community-level resources that facilitate processes of resilience for Black boys and young men in the contexts of trauma, violence, and poverty.

Yoshimura origami is a classical folding pattern that has inspired many deployable structure designs. Its applications span from space exploration, kinetic architectures and soft robots to even everyday household items. However, despite its wide usage, Yoshimura has been fixated on a set of design constraints to ensure its flat foldability.

We investigated this in relation to one ethnic group, the Australian-Indian community in Sydney.
Methods: A culturally appropriate survey and dissemination strategy was co-created with Indian community members through an Advisory Panel. Items were informed by a thematic analysis of cultural beliefs shared through the advisory panel discussions and measured awareness and practices associated with organ donation and transplantation and beliefs about organ donation and registration.
Background: Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) proteins are expressed on the surface of infected erythrocytes, mediating parasite sequestration in the vasculature. PfEMP1 is a major target of protective antibodies, but the features of the antibody response are poorly defined.
Methods: In Malawian children with cerebral or uncomplicated malaria, we characterized the antibody response to 39 recombinant PfEMP1 Duffy binding like (DBL) domains or cysteine-rich interdomain regions (CIDRs) in detail, including measures of antibody classes, subclasses, and engagement with Fcγ receptors and complement.

External quality assessment (EQA) is used to evaluate laboratory performance in tests of hemostasis; however, some esoteric tests are performed by too few centers in any one EQA program to allow valid statistical assessment. To explore the feasibility of pooling data from several EQA providers, an exercise was carried out by the External Quality Assurance in Thrombosis and Haemostasis group, using the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) plasma standard for thrombophilia screening assays. Six EQA providers took part in this exercise, distributing the SSC plasma standard as a "blinded" sample to participants for thrombophilia tests between November 2020 and December 2021.

Integrating mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) into outbreak response facilitates the delivery of holistic care to the affected community. As there is an increasing incidence of outbreaks globally, integrating MHPSS into preparedness and response plans is paramount to strengthen the capacity of existing health systems and respond to mental health and psychosocial needs.

Methods: We distributed a cross-sectional online survey using targeted recruitment. Researchers provided information on drug use, disclosure of use (or abstinence) professionally, and their impact via write-in text boxes.
Background: Recent data indicate rising opioid overdose deaths among African American residents of Washington, DC.
Objectives: We highlight a community-informed approach to assessing attitudes toward opioid use disorder treatment among DC residents (February 2019 to March 2020).
Methods: A listening tour with trusted community leaders led to the formation of a Community Advisory Board (CAB).
Background: Gold standard for determining intracranial pressure (ICP), intraventricular catheter, is invasive with associated risks. Non-invasive investigations like magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasonography have demonstrated correlation between optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) and raised ICP. However, computed tomography (CT) is accessible and less operator-dependent.

St Helena have taken a whole systems approach to obesity (WSAO) to address the issue. A WSAO recognises the factors that impact obesity as a complex system and requires a 'health in all policies' approach.

These young adults may need to attend court and potentially receive penalties including imprisonment. Alternative routes exist, which can help address the underlying causes of offending.

Creating uniform healthcare guidance in Canada is a challenge for a number of reasons including the differences in healthcare authority structure, funding and access to healthcare resources between provinces and territories, as well as the geographic size. These differences can lead to variable and unequal access to effective therapies for GvHD.

Compared with other OECD countries, Bermuda ranks third globally in terms of income inequality globally. During the COVID-19 pandemic, anecdotal evidence suggested, significant fluctuations in the food demand and supply. We aimed to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food insecurity, with a focus on the availability and affordability of various foods in Bermuda.

Diagnosis is based on the presence of plasmacytoid dendritic cell precursors expressing CD123, the interleukin-3 (IL-3) receptor alpha, and a distinct histologic appearance. Timely diagnosis remains a challenge, due to lack of disease awareness and overlapping biologic and clinical features with other hematologic malignancies.

That is, they fear that accepting climate change means accepting problems with a favoured socioeconomic system and supporting action on climate change threatens to disrupt these systems. We draw together lines of research and reasoning on this topic to outline three key predictions this perspective makes about the drivers of conservative denial of climate change and opposition to climate policy.

The study assesses the accuracy of predictive models of hematocrit decline and blood loss in spinal surgery and determines the impact of peri-operative fluid administration on hematocrit levels of patients undergoing first-time single level lumbar fusion surgery for degenerative spine disease and the trend thereof in the first 24 h post-operatively.
Methods: Clinical and biochemical parameters were prospectively collected in patients undergoing single level lumbar spinal surgery.
Background: Young people who commit criminal offences are often affected by mental health issues, including drug and alcohol misuse, with many leading chaotic lifestyles. Gateway was a pioneering court-diversion programme aimed to reduce reoffending and improve the health and wellbeing of people aged 18-24 years who had been questioned for a low-level offence. The Gateway Study consisted of a pragmatic, parallel-group, superiority randomised controlled trial (RCT) of the programme's effectiveness, and its qualitative evaluation.

The underlying principle is that regular IQC audits the analytical performance of automated, semiautomated, and manual methods. This review investigates IQC practices, including benefits, limitations, frequency per time period or batch, sources of material used, primary supplier, third party or in-house, plus troubleshooting when IQC falls outside acceptance criteria.
