Muscle and tendon injuries are prevalent occurrences during sports activities. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is known for its rich content of factors essential for wound healing, inflammation reduction, and tissue repair. Despite its recognized benefits, limited information is available regarding PRP's effectiveness in addressing combined surgical injuries to the gastrocnemius muscle and Achilles tendon.

Alzheimer disease (AD) is among the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases globally, marked by cognitive and behavioral disruptions. Ferroptosis is a form of controlled cell death characterized by intracellular iron accumulation associated with lipid peroxide formation, which subsequently promotes AD initiation and progression. We hypothesized that targeting the ferroptosis pathway may help in AD management.

Equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) causes respiratory illness, fetal loss, perinatal mortality, and myeloencephalopathy. This study investigated ORF15's impact on virus infectivity and neurovirulence. The Ab4p neurovirulent strain of EHV1 was used as a backbone to create Ab4p attB, Ab4p∆ORF15, and Ab4p∆ORF15R chimeras via BAC DNA transfection into RK-13 cells.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) occurs naturally in the body and possesses antioxidant and cardioprotective effects. Cardiotoxicity has emerged as a serious effect of the exposure to cadmium (Cd). This study investigated the curative potential of CoQ10 on Cd cardiotoxicity in mice, emphasizing the involvement of oxidative stress (OS) and NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome axis.

Background: Paracetamol is one of the most popular drugs; it is used daily by many people especially the elderly, without a limitation on the length of the period allowed for continuous use. Harms from long-term use are less clear, particularly in extrahepatic regions.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate whether using paracetamol at a non-observable adverse effect level dose, known not to cause toxic effects, for a long period can induce toxicity in aged male albino rats.

A simple technique was utilized to fabricate pure hexagonal LaO nanorods by utilizing lanthanum(III) nitrate hexahydrate (La(NO)·6HO) and ammonia (NHOH). The LaO nanoparticles were analyzed using XRD, TGA, Raman, SEM, FTIR, TEM, PL spectroscopy, and Mott-Schottky techniques. The XRD analysis confirmed the production of La(OH) nanorods under appropriate conditions, which were then successfully converted into LaOCO and finally into LaO nanorods through annealing.

The objective of this study was to detect the effects of acute aflatoxin B (AFB) exposure in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and the effectiveness of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and silicate in reducing these effects. Two hundred and forty Nile tilapia fingerlings (16 ± 0.5 g) were randomly assigned to four experimental groups, each with 60 fish and three replicates.

Identifying new hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)-driven signaling molecules and discovering their molecular mechanisms are crucial for efficient and better outcomes. Recently, OMA1 and YME1L, the inner mitochondrial proteases, were displayed to be associated with tumor progression in various cancers; however, their role in HCC has not yet been studied. Therefore, we evaluated the possible role of OMA1/YME1L in HCC staging and discussed their potential role in cellular apoptosis and proliferation.

Ionizing radiation (IR) is effectively used in the treatment of oral malignancies; however, it might also significantly harm the surrounding tissues. Whey protein isolate (WP) is a protein derived from milk that exhibits a wide range of bioactivities. Therefore, the present research aimed to delineate the mitigating impact of WP against gamma irradiation-induced lingual damage.

Ninety-seven (64.67%) out of 150 domestic goats (Capra hiricus) carcasses were found to be infected by Sarcocystis moulei, Sarcocystis capracanis, and Sarcocystis hircicanis sarcocysts. Sarcocystis moulei macrosarcocysts were detected in the cardiac, esophageal, skeletal, lingual, and diaphragmatic muscles of seven goats (4.

This comparative study was conducted to assess the intramedullary bone tissue reaction of an ion-releasing resin modified glass-ionomer cement with claimed bioactivity (ACTIVA bioactive resin) restorative material versus Mineral Trioxide Aggregate High Plasticity (MTA HP) and bioceramic putty iRoot BP Plus. Fifty-six adult male Wistar rats were assigned into 4 equal groups (14 rats each). A surgical intramedullary bi-lateral tibial bone defects were performed in rats of the control group I (GI) and left without any treatment to be considered as controls (n = 28).

Avian orthoreovirus (ARV) is among the important viruses that cause drastic economic losses in the Egyptian poultry industry. Despite regular vaccination of breeder birds, a high prevalence of ARV infection in broilers has been noted in recent years. However, no reports have revealed the genetic and antigenic characteristics of Egyptian field ARV and vaccines used against it.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic hepatic disorder characterized by hepatic lipid accumulation. This study explored the effect of betulin (BE), a terpenoid with promising antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and insulin sensitizing effects, on NAFLD induced by high fat diet (HFD). Rats received HFD and BE (15 and 30 mg/kg) for 12 weeks and blood and liver samples were collected for analyses.

Malus domestica Borkh, the apple tree, exhibited numerous pharmacological properties including antioxidant, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antimicrobial activities. The present work aimed to annotate the secondary metabolites from a butanol fraction of apple leaves (BLE), evaluate the gastro-protective and healing effects of this fraction against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers in rats and to identify its mechanism of action. BLE (100, and 200 mg/kg) was orally administered in rats as an acute treatment against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer in comparison with famotidine as reference anti-ulcer drug.

Background: Solid tumors such as colon cancer are characterized by rapid and sustained cell proliferation, which ultimately results in hypoxia, induction of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), and activation of glycolysis to promote tumor survival and immune evasion. We hypothesized that a combinatorial approach of menadione (MEN) as an indirect HIF-1α inhibitor and sodium oxamate (OX) as a glycolysis inhibitor may be a promising treatment strategy for colon cancer.

Objectives: We investigated the potential efficacy of this combination for promoting an antitumor immune response and suppressing tumor growth in a rat model of colon cancer.
