Methods: 14 teams participated in the Union of European Football Associations Champions/Europa Leagues from 2019/2020 to 2022/2023.

Background: Individuals who sustained traumatic brain injuries in childhood may experience global challenges including disorders of consciousness, motor dysfunctions, and sensory impairments. Occupational and physical therapy are important parts of recovery from an acute brain injury, addressing deficits that directly affect functional recovery and return to age-appropriate activities of daily living. Difficulty with active engagement in therapy tasks can limit the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.

Background: Meniscus injuries often accompany anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. However, little is known about how different surgical approaches to treat concomitant meniscus injuries impact hop performance after ACL reconstruction. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare hop test inter-limb symmetry for patients who had undergone ACL reconstruction without an associated meniscal surgery, patients who had undergone ACL reconstruction with a meniscus repair, and patients who had undergone ACL reconstruction with a partial meniscectomy.

The trans-vessel wall device (TW-device) is a new endovascular tool for precise and safe delivery of various payloads (cells, viral, modified RNA, chemotherapy, growth factors) in oncology and regenerative medicine. The twofold aim of this study was to assess cell engraftment and tumor growth using the TW-device for endovascular transplantation and to evaluate its ability to directly access solid tumors. We used the VX2 model in the rabbit kidney to compare percutaneously implanted fresh VX2 cells with TW-device injections of cryopreserved VX2 cells.

Purpose: To investigate the association between common measures of trunk and lower extremity range of motion (ROM), strength, the results of one-leg jump tests at baseline and the incidence of subsequent substantial knee injuries in adolescent female football players.

Methods: Players were assessed at baseline regarding (1) ROM of trunk, hip, and ankle; (2) trunk, hip, and knee strength; and (3) one-leg jump tests. Players were prospectively monitored weekly for 1 year regarding knee injuries and the volume of matches and training.

Purpose: The objective was to describe the location, examination procedures, diagnoses, and treatment for gradual-onset Achilles tendon pain in male professional football (soccer) players.

Patients And Methods: Forty-seven teams were followed prospectively for at least one season from 2013/14 to 2017/18. Time-loss injuries were recorded by the teams' medical staffs.

Purpose: To investigate the influence of surgical volume, and various patient-, injury-, and surgery-related factors, on meniscal treatment strategies in primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed patients with concomitant meniscal injuries undergoing primary ACLR, from 2008 to 2022, using data from the Swedish National Knee Ligament Registry. Surgeons and clinics were stratified by total caseload (cutoff: 50 ACLRs/surgeon, 500 ACLRs/clinic) and annual volume (cutoff: 29 ACLRs/year/surgeon, 56 ACLRs/year/clinic).

Purpose: To assess whether distal radius fracture (DRF) malunion is associated with greater patient-reported disability.

Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases up to 21 May 2023. Two reviewers independently screened retrieved titles/abstracts and assessed the full text of potentially eligible articles to identify cohort studies and randomized controlled trials reporting outcomes of DRF in adults at least 12 months after fracture, confirmed radiologically 3 months or longer after fracture.

Objective: Injuries in women's football (soccer) have scarcely been investigated, and no study has been conducted in the highest competitive level involving club teams from different countries. Our aim was to investigate the time-loss injury epidemiology and characteristics among women's elite football players over four seasons.

Methods: 596 players from 15 elite women's teams in Europe were studied prospectively during the 2018/2019 to 2021/2022 seasons (44 team seasons).

Dietary habits in adolescent male and female handball players: the Swedish Handball Cohort.

Objectives: This cross-sectional study aimed to describe dietary habits in Swedish adolescent handball players and differences with respect to sex and school grade.

Methods: Participants in the Swedish Handball Cohort answered a web-survey assessing adherence to sports nutrition recommendations for meal frequency and meal timing, and the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (NNR) for fruits/vegetables and fish/seafood, food exclusions and use of dietary supplements. Differences with respect to sex and school grade were estimated with generalised linear models, generating prevalence ratios (PR) with 95% CIs.

Biomedical Metal-Organic Framework Materials: Perspectives and Challenges.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials are gaining significant interest in biomedical research, owing to their high porosity, crystallinity, and structural and compositional diversity. Their versatile hybrid organic/inorganic chemistry endows MOFs with the capacity to retain organic (drug) molecules, metals, and gases, to effectively channel electrons and photons, to survive harsh physiological conditions such as low pH, and even to protect sensitive biomolecules. Extensive preclinical research has been carried out with MOFs to treat several pathologies and, recently, their integration with other biomedical materials such as stents and implants has demonstrated promising performance in regenerative medicine.

The Dean Flow, a physics phenomenon that accounts for the impact of channel curvature on fluid dynamics, has great potential to be used in microfluidic synthesis of nanoparticles. This study explores the impact of the Dean Flow on the synthesis of ZIF-8 particles. Several variables that influence the Dean Equation (the mathematical expression of Dean Flow) are tested to validate the applicability of this expression in microfluidic synthesis, including the flow rate, radius of curvature, channel cross sectional area, and reagent concentration.

Testosterone identifies hatchling sex for Mojave desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii).

The threatened Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) exhibits temperature-dependent sex determination, and individuals appear externally sexually monomorphic until sexual maturity. A non-surgical sex identification method that is suitable for a single in situ encounter with hatchlings is essential for minimizing handling of wild animals. We tested (1) whether plasma testosterone quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay differentiated males from females in 0-3 month old captive hatchlings, and (2) whether an injection of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) differentially elevates testosterone in male hatchlings to aid in identifying sex.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the eventual added benefit of antigranulocyte monoclonal antibodies scintigraphy for the diagnostic imaging of aortic graft infection (AGI) and its role in evaluation of treatment outcome.

Methods: A population-based, retrospective, register-based analysis was carried out of all patients with infected aortic grafts after treatment for aneurysmal or aortoiliac occlusive disease at Karolinska University Hospital, covering the greater Stockholm area during November 2012-December 2020. Cases were based on the definitions in the 2016 Management of Aortic Graft Infection Collaborations consensus.

Adherence to Injury Prevention Exercise Programmes in Amateur Adolescent and Adult Football: A Detailed Description of Programme Use from a Randomised Study.

Background: Injury prevention exercise programmes (IPEPs) efficaciously reduce injuries. However, it is challenging to achieve sufficient adherence across a season. The main aim was to describe adherence to IPEPs in three groups of coaches and players partaking in a cluster randomised trial.

The objective was to prospectively follow patients subjected to ultrasound (US)- and color doppler (CD)-guided wide awake, local anesthetic, no-tourniquet (WALANT) surgery in a private setting. : Twenty-six Swedish patients (17 men and 9 women, mean age 50 years (range 29-62)) and eight international male patients (mean age of 38 years (range 25-71)) with combined midportion Achilles and plantaris tendinopathy in 45 tendons altogether were included.
