[Obstetric hysterectomy--analysis of indications in years 1992-2001].

Aim Of The Study: Analysis of indications and post-operative course in patients after obstetric hysterectomy.

Material And Methods: 45 cases of obstetric hysterectomy were analysed.

[The impact of low-dose aspirin therapy on umbilical and middle cerebral artery blood flow in pregnancy complicated by idiopathic intrauterine growth restriction].

Aim: Intrauterine growth restriction and its treatment still constitute a major clinical problem in perinatology. Since low doses of aspirin could improve the utero-placental circulation (by shifting the prostacyclin/thromboxane A2 balance), we have evaluated the impact of low-dose aspirin treatment of IUGR during pregnancy on umbilical (UA) and middle cerebral artery (MCA) blood flow.

Material And Methods: The study comprised 32 pregnant women with idiopathic fetal intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) diagnosed during pregnancy on the basis of ultrasound examination of biometric parameters (BPD, FL, AC).

[Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma firstly localized in colonic mesentery].

There are only few papers describing extrauterine localisation of endometrial tumor sarcoma. Pathogenesis of this tumor is still not clear. Most of the authors suggest the heterotopic Mullerian ducts to be the origin of such tumors.

[Vaginal leiomyoma].

Vaginal leiomyoma is a very rare condition. The earliest reference made to such a tumor is attributed to Denys De Leyden in 1773, and the first review of the literature concerning such tumors was published in 1882. It is estimated approximately 300 leiomyomas of the vagina have been reported in the world literature.

[The results of screening program for cervical cancer in Lodz].

Objectives: Despite effective screening methods, most often tumor of the urogenital tract is still cancer of the uterine cervix. Proven in many countries the value of widespread screening of the precancerous lesions and cervical cancer justifies carrying out such prophylactic tests in Poland.

Design: Assessment of results of screening as a method of early detection of cancer of the uterine cervix among inhabitants of Łódź area.

[Clinical analysis of 105 cases of vulvar cancer].

Objectives: Vulvar cancer has a low frequency (4-5%) compared to other genital cancers. It should be considered as a skin tumor and its detection is possible in an early stage. However, because of patients' and doctors' delay, one in three vulvar cancers is not treated before an advanced stage.

[Leiomyomas in pregnancy].

Objectives: The problem of leiomyomas founded in pregnancy is reported.

Design: Diagnostic methods, indications and contraindications for the myomectomy and surgical technique are presented.

Materials And Methods: In years 1991-2000--185 pregnant women with leiomyomas diagnosed during pregnancy or caesarean section were treated.
