Conjunctival malignant melanoma is extremely rare, with no standard of care established at moment. Here we report a 65-year-old woman, as a hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier, who presented concurrently a liver mass and lower bulbar conjunctival pigmented lesions in the right eye. Needle liver biopsy and excisional conjunctival biopsy showed hepatocellular carcinoma and conjunctival malignant melanoma , respectively.

This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate the possibility of artery dissection as a class effect of VPIs using nationwide real-world data. This cohort study was conducted based on the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan (NDB), which spans nearly the entire Japanese population of over 100 million individuals.

Here, we present a case of radiation hepatitis challenging to differentiate from drug-induced liver injury during ABM treatment. The patient, a woman in her 40 s, underwent right mastectomy, axillary dissection, and postmastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for EBC.

However, the introduced ochetosomatid Ochetosoma kansense (Crow, 1913) has been reported from the oral cavity of native snakes in western Japan since 2010s. In this study, trematodes were isolated from the oral cavities of the native Japanese snakes, Elaphe quadrivirgata (Boie, 1826), E.

Materials And Methods: This multicenter nationwide prospective cohort study included patients with operable early-stage lung cancer. Proton and carbon ion radiotherapy was performed according to the schedule stipulated in the unified treatment policy.
Introduction: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) can be treated with chemotherapy in unresectable cases, but outcomes are poor. Proton beam therapy (PBT) may provide an alternative treatment and has good dose concentration that may improve local control.
Methods: Fifty-nine patients who received initial PBT for ICC from May 2016 to June 2018 at nine centers were included in the study.
Dicrocoeliid trematodes were detected from Iwasaki's snail-eating snake Pareas iwasakii in Iriomote Island, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, and described as a new species Paradistomum dextra n. sp. in the present study.

Chalcone synthase (CHS) catalyzes the production of 2',4,4',6'-tetrahydroxychalcone (THC), a common precursor of plant flavonoids, from p-coumaroyl-coenzyme A (-CoA) and three malonyl-CoA molecules. CHS has promiscuous product specificity, producing a significant amount of p-coumaroyltriacetic lactone (CTAL) in vitro.

To improve hospitalist co-management of hip fractures, we designed and implemented hip fracture template (HFT), a flagging and risk stratification algorithm system. It includes consideration of perioperative management and preventative measures against hip fractures.

Methods: A new user cohort design was employed to examine the prescription trend and the occurrence of lactic acidosis in patients prescribed metformin before and after PI revision using the Medical Information Database Network (MID-NET).
Objective: Prescription trends and patterns of anti-COVID-19 drugs in hospitalized patients were examined based on real world data to understand the use of anti-COVID-19 drugs in clinical practice in Japan.
Design: The longitudinal and cross-sectional study was conducted utilizing data from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021 of the MID-NET® medical information database, which stored the electronic medical records, administrative claim data, and diagnosis procedure combination data of patients in Japan.
Participants: Hospitalized patients with a COVID-19-related diagnosis who received at least one anti-COVID-19 drug between April 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021.
Complexity of quantum phases of matter is often understood theoretically by using gauge structures, as is recognized by the [Formula: see text] and U(1) gauge theory description of spin liquids in frustrated magnets. Anomalous Hall effect of conducting electrons can intrinsically arise from a U(1) gauge expressing the spatial modulation of ferromagnetic moments or from an SU(2) gauge representing the spin-orbit coupling effect. Similarly, in insulating ferro and antiferromagnets, the magnon contribution to anomalous transports is explained in terms of U(1) and SU(2) fluxes present in the ordered magnetic structure.

Mutagenesis studies demonstrated that the S-S bond formation affects not only the stability of the dimer but also the catalytic efficiency of NDPS1. Structural polymorphs in the crystal structures of NDPS1 complexed with its substrate and substrate analog were identified by employing massive data collections and hierarchical clustering analysis.
