Background: Because of the increasing prevalence of dementia in Japan, the government introduced financial incentives for specialized care for dementia at acute care hospitals in 2016. Our hospital then introduced a multidisciplinary collaborative specialized team, referred to as dementia-specialized care team. The aim of this study is to examine the influence of dementia-specialized care team on clinical outcomes for elderly inpatients.

We established a simultaneous bioluminescent assay utilizing aequorin (Aq) and biotinylated firefly luciferase (b-Luc); furthermore, we developed a highly sensitive and rapid tandem bioluminescent immunoassay (BLIA) involving the Aq-labeled Fab fragment and b-Luc-streptavidin complex. Minimum detection limits of Aq and b-Luc were 9.4x10(-21) mol assay(-1) (blank + 3 S.

This paper theoretically derives a general rule that while the slope of the semi-logarithmic plot (Y vs. log X) of a calibration curve varies depending on analyte concentration, X, the slope takes a specific value at the detection limit (L(D)). This rule holds good irrespective of the shape of the calibration curve (linear or non-linear) and in this paper, is applied to competitive ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay).

This paper develops a mathematical model for describing the within-plate variation as the RSD (relative standard deviation) of absorbance measurements in a wide concentration range in competitive ELISA and proposes a method for determining the limit of detection (LOD) and range of quantitation (ROQ). The ELISA for 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone is taken as an example. The theoretical RSD description involves analyte concentration as an independent variable and error sources as parameters which concern the pipetting and absorbance measurement.
