Canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) is a complicated respiratory syndrome in dogs [1], [2], [3]. A panel PCR was developed [4] to detect nine pathogens commonly associated with CIRD: canine adenovirus type 2, canine herpesvirus 1, canine parainfluenza virus, canine distemper virus, canine influenza virus and canine respiratory coronavirus [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], [15], [16]. To evaluate diagnostic performance of the assay, 740 nasal swab and lung tissue samples were collected and tested with the new assay, and compared to an older version of the assay detecting the same pathogens except that it does not differentiate the two species.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) has been shown to be closely related to gut dysbiosis mediated through the gut−skin axis, and thus the gut microbiome has recently been explored as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of AD. Infectious respiratory disease is one of the most common diseases in dogs worldwide. Several bacterial and viral pathogens can serve as causative agents of canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD), including Mycoplasma cynos, Mycoplasma canis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, canine adenovirus type 2 (CAdV-2), canine herpesvirus 1 (CHV-1), canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV), canine distemper virus (CDV), canine influenza virus (CIA) and canine respiratory coronavirus (CRCoV). Since these organisms cause similar clinical symptoms, disease diagnosis based on symptoms alone can be difficult.

The Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 has now become the predominant strain in the global COVID-19 pandemic. Strain coverage of some detection assays developed during the early pandemic stages has declined due to periodic mutations in the viral genome. We have developed a real-time RT-PCR (RT-qPCR) for SARS-CoV-2 detection that provides nearly 100% strain coverage, and differentiation of highly transmissible Delta variant strains.

International visitor arrivals are considered to be a major source of foreign exchange, tourism-related employment and other tourism-related activities. This study used SARIMAX/(E)GARCH volatility models to forecast visitor arrivals by air transport to New Zealand from its eight key tourist source markets (Australia, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US)) and control macroeconomic factors together with global and regional structural changes. The empirical models reveal that the macroeconomic factors contributed at various levels to different markets, and the models we provided made accurate and reliable forecasts for visitor arrivals by air transport from all studied markets.

Purpose: To compare mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO) to sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) to treat moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and their surgical morbidities and skeletal stability.

Materials And Methods: A randomized clinical trial was conducted on non-syndromic adult patients with apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) 15 or above to receive MDO or SSRO as part or whole skeletal advancement surgery. Post-operative 1 year OSA cure rate (AHI < 5/hour) and treatment success rate (50% reduction of AHI and AHI< 20/hour) were compared.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is known to be associated with loss of cholinergic neurons in the nucleus basalis of Meynert, located in the posterior basal forebrain. Structural changes of septal nuclei, located in the anterior basal forebrain, have not been well studied in AD.
