Data storage using peptide sequences.

Humankind is generating digital data at an exponential rate. These data are typically stored using electronic, magnetic or optical devices, which require large physical spaces and cannot last for a very long time. Here we report the use of peptide sequences for data storage, which can be durable and of high storage density.

Acupuncture and herbal moxibustion for the treatment of 'BiQiu' (allergic rhinitis symptoms) in a Hong Kong Chinese medicine clinic: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common disease. No evidence is available for the clinical application of acupuncture and moxibustion for the management of AR symptoms in Hong Kong. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of acupuncture with or without herbal moxibustion on relieving AR symptoms in the Hong Kong population.

Motivating Diabetic and Hypertensive Patients to Engage in Regular Physical Activity: A Multi-Component Intervention Derived from the Concept of Photovoice.

A community-based multi-component intervention (increasing awareness of the importance of physical activity in chronic illness management through reading comic books, training regarding warm-up stretching exercises, identifying facilitators and barriers to exercise through photosharing, supporting self-reflection and development of action plans) was developed to promote physical activity (PA) among patients with diabetes and hypertension. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of this intervention on health behaviour (walking) and health outcomes. A non-randomized controlled trial with waitlisted control and pre- and post-measures.

Scale-free user-network approach to telephone network traffic analysis.

The effect of the user network on the telephone network traffic is studied in this paper. Unlike classical traffic analysis, where users are assumed to be connected uniformly, our proposed method employs a scale-free network to model the behavior of telephone users. Each user has a fixed set of acquaintances with whom the user may communicate, and the number of acquaintances follows a power-law distribution.
