Background: Only 80% of patients are satisfied with their outcomes post-TKA. Mounting attention has been paid to constitutional limb alignment and individualized alignment strategies in recent years. MacDessi et al.

However, with the emergence of adversarial attacks, most existing palm-vein recognition methods are vulnerable to adversarial image attacks, and to the best of our knowledge, there is still no study specifically focusing on palm-vein image attacks. In this paper, we propose an adversarial palm-vein image attack network that generates highly similar adversarial palm-vein images to the original samples, but with altered palm-identities.

We present the largest cohort of patients to date that have undergone laparoscopic hernia repair with this technique and aim to evaluate the impact of both techniques on postoperative recurrence and other secondary outcomes.
Methods: A retrospective, single-institution cohort study of patients who underwent a laparoscopic groin hernia repair over a 5.
Despite total knee arthroplasty (TKA) being the gold standard for end-stage knee osteoarthritis, 20% of patients remain dissatisfied. Robotic-assisted arthroplasty promises unparalleled control of the accuracy of bone cuts, implant positioning, control of gap balance, and resultant hip-knee-ankle (HKA) axis. Patients underwent clinical and radiological assessments, including knee CT scans and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), preoperatively.

Reducing exposure to inappropriate antifungal prescribing is likely to improve patient safety, but modifying prescribing behavior is difficult.

The role of crural repair during LSG is still controversial. The preoperative laxity of the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ), graded by the Hill's classification, is more predictive for postoperative GERD and EE after LSG than the presence of a hiatal hernia seen on endoscopy.

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is a widely performed bariatric surgery, but it is associated with an increased risk of gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) in the long term. The addition of fundoplication to laparoscopic SG may improve lower oesophageal sphincter function and reduce postoperative GERD.
Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to compare the efficacy and safety of SG plus fundoplication (SG + F) versus SG alone for the treatment of patients with severe obesity (≥35 kg/m).
In the past decades, supervised cross-modal hashing methods have attracted considerable attentions due to their high searching efficiency on large-scale multimedia databases. Many of these methods leverage semantic correlations among heterogeneous modalities by constructing a similarity matrix or building a common semantic space with the collective matrix factorization method. However, the similarity matrix may sacrifice the scalability and cannot preserve more semantic information into hash codes in the existing methods.

Genomic analyses of nanopore sequencing confirmed human-to-animal transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant. Viral genomes from the lions and zookeeper shared a unique spike protein substitution, S:A1016V.

We detected African swine fever virus (ASFV) from a wild boar in Singapore. In <72 hours, we confirmed and reported ASFV p72 genotype II, CD2v serogroup 8, and IGR-II variant by using a combination of real-time PCR and whole-genome sequencing. Continued biosurveillance will be needed to monitor ASFV in Singapore.

Hope is considered as a positive trait by clinicians, who often assess the level of hope in psychological evaluations. Previous measurements of hope were largely based on self-reported questionnaires leading to the problem of subjectivity.

As a branch of transfer learning, domain adaptation leverages useful knowledge from a source domain to a target domain for solving target tasks. Most of the existing domain adaptation methods focus on how to diminish the conditional distribution shift and learn invariant features between different domains. However, two important factors are overlooked by most existing methods: 1) the transferred features should be not only domain invariant but also discriminative and correlated, and 2) negative transfer should be avoided as much as possible for the target tasks.

Nurses' attitudes towards family involvement can affect family participation in care. Earlier studies on psychiatric nurses' attitudes towards family involvement in care report ambiguous findings.

Background: Constipation is a functional gastrointestinal disorder that presents with signs and symptoms, which are typically assessed subjectively. Various measurement scales, such as the Constipation Assessment Scale (CAS), are commonly used to evaluate constipation among the general population. However, the instruments should be culturally and contextually relevant in adult psychiatric patients to generate valid and reliable evidence.

Healthcare worker (HCW) mobility and patient contacts within the hospital can contribute to nosocomial outbreaks, yet data on these behaviours are often limited.
Methods: Using electronic medical records and door access logs from a London teaching hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, we derive indicators for HCW mobility and patient contacts at an aggregate level.
Diabetic retinopathy (DR), one of the most common and serious complications of diabetes, has become one of the main blindness diseases. The retinal vasculature is the only part of the human circulatory system that allows direct noninvasive visualization of the body's microvasculature, which provides the opportunity to detect the structural and functional changes before DR becomes unable to intervene. For decades, as the fundamental step in computer-assisted analysis of retinopathy, retinal vascular extraction methods have been largely developed.

This study examined and compared attitudes toward patient aggression in psychiatric hospitals from the perspectives of nurses, patients and informal caregivers and identified factors associated to these attitudes. A total of 2,424 participants completed a self-reported instrument regarding attitudes toward aggression (12-items Perception of Aggression Scale; POAS-S).
