It is necessary to separate CO from biogas to improve its quality for the production of biomethane. Herein, an improvement in the separation of CO/CH adsorption was achieved by modifying the surface of CMS. The surface modification of CMS was performed by impregnation with metal oxide (FeO) and N-doping (DES-[ChCl:Gly]).

Dispersion of iron oxide is one of the critical factors which supports the separation process performance. Iron oxide dispersion can be enhanced by enriching the oxygen functional groups on the carbon surface.
