Screening of hair growth promoting activity of L. (pomegranate) leaves extracts and its potential to exhibit antidandruff and anti-lice effect.

The intent of the present investigation was to explore the utility of alcoholic and aqueous extract of L. as hair growth promoter along with anti-lice and antidandruff activity. A filter paper diffusion approach was employed for screening of the pediculocidal and ovicidal activity.

In vivo and in vitro hair growth-promoting effect of silver and iron nanoparticles synthesized via Blumea eriantha DC plant extract.

Background: In the current research, we have developed silver and iron nanoparticles of isolated proanthocynidin (PAC) from grape seed by green synthesis and evaluated for antimicrobial, antioxidant activity and in vitro cytotoxicity against colon cancer cell lines.

Results: One percent solution of isolated proanthocynidin in water was vigorously mixed with 1% silver nitrate and 1% ferric chloride solution and kept for 4 h, to yield PACAgNP and PACFeNP. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by UV, FTIR, XRD, and SEM analysis and evaluated for antimicrobial potential against selected microbes.

Studies on in-vitro hypoglycemic effects of root bark of Caesalpinia bonducella.

Objective: The present investigation was undertaken to assess the hypoglycemic potential of ethanolic (ECB) and aqueous extracts (ACB) of root bark of Caesalpinia bonducella using various in vitro techniques.

Method: The ethanolic and aqueous extracts of root bark of C. bonducella were studied for their effects on glucose adsorption capacity, in vitro glucose diffusion, in-vitro amylolysis kinetics and glucose transport across membrane of yeast cells.

A rare case of chronic sialadenitis of accessory parotid gland.

The accessory parotid gland is salivary tissue adjacent to stenson's duct that is separated from the main parotid gland and lying on masseter muscle. It has secondary duct empting into the stenson's duct. The differential diagnosis of mid-cheek masses include pathology arising from normal anatomic structures or from variations of normal accessory parotid gland tissue.

Schwannoma of the cervical vagus nerve in a child: a case report.

Schwannoma are relatively rare tumor and even rarer in children. Nerve sheath tumors arising from the cervical nerve are extremely rare. We report a 13-year old boy presented with a history of an asymptomatic right cervical swelling since one year.

Fixation of nasal bone grafts with interosseous wire: our technique.

Background: The use of interosseous wire to fix bone grafts is well known. Herein, we describe a technique for fixation of an iliac crest bone graft for nasal augmentation, using a stainless steel wire.

Method: A hole in the cancellous part of the graft guides the wire exactly into a groove in the cortical part, preventing slippage and ensuring rigid fixation.
