This study aims to investigate the long-term outcomes and loco-regional relapse patterns in patients with clinical stage IA (c-IA) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after segmentectomy and compare them with those after lobectomy.
Methods: We retrospectively compared the long-term outcomes of 115 patients who underwent segmentectomy for c-IA NSCLC with those of 292 patients who underwent lobectomy between January 2008 and December 2015.

Fifteen years later, the JSTH developed new guidelines covering DIC associated with various underlying conditions. Transmembrane-4 L-six family member-1 (TM4SF1) is a small cell surface glycoprotein that is highly and selectively expressed on endothelial cell and mesenchymal stem cell surfaces. TM4SF1 regulates cellular functions by forming protein complexes called TMED (TM4SF1-enriched microdomains) that either recruit growth-factor activated proteins and internalize them via microtubules to distribute the recruited molecules intracellularly or support the formation of nanopodia for intercellular interactions extracellularly. Through a genetically manipulated mouse model for global gene knockout, we demonstrate here that TM4SF1 is essential for blood vessel development.

Incomplete differentiation of the mitral valve structures during fetal life results in the papillary muscles and tendon cords becoming hypoplastic, a condition termed undifferentiated papillary muscles (UDPM). This fetal abnormality causes a group of diseases that cause mitral valve dysfunction in adult life. Here, we report a case of UDPM centered on the medial posterior apex in which detailed morphological abnormalities were diagnosed preoperatively using echocardiography and three-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT) analysis, contributing to plastic surgery.
