Introduction: Emergency care of critically ill patients in the trauma room is an integral part of interdisciplinary work in hospitals. Live threatening injuries require swift diagnosis, prioritization, and treatment; thus, different medical specialties need to work together closely for optimal patient care. Training is essential to facilitate smooth performance.

Background: Emergencies and emergency surgeries are a central part of everyday surgical care in Germany. However, it is unclear how emergency surgery is practically trained in clinics on a daily basis and what training concept is underlying. Therefore, the aim of this survey study was to capture the status quo of emergency surgical training of German general and visceral surgeons.

Trainers must know the trainee's training level to ensure high-quality surgical training. A systematic preoperative dialogue (Educational Team Time Out, ETO) was established to discuss the steps of each surgical procedure.

Especially in surgical subjects, it is more and more difficult to adequately serve these three pillars of university medicine - clinic, research and education. This survey was intended to determine the status quo of general and visceral surgery at universities, in order to provide a basis for proposed solutions.

Background: The National Council on Aging's Aging Mastery Program (AMP) aims to help older adults implement health behavior and lifestyle changes to promote healthy aging. The purpose of this community-partnered evaluation was to assess the effectiveness of the implementation in Los Angeles, and understand participant outcomes beyond the findings of a randomized waitlist controlled trial.
Objectives: The purpose of this qualitative process evaluation was to deepen our understanding of participant outcomes and potential site-level implementation issues with the randomized waitlist controlled trial, as participant and site lead satisfaction ratings were very high.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed medical teaching worldwide. Digital teaching and examinations are successful for cognitive learning objectives, whereas practical skills had to be carried out predominantly in person under strict hygiene standards.
Aim: This study presents the opportunities and challenges of using a presence objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) at a distance with digital support.
Background: Education of medical students in surgery not only consists of knowledge about diseases and their treatment but also of practical skills like i.e. suturing.

However, they are limited regarding sampling frequency, representation of tumor heterogeneity, and sampling can expose patients to adverse side effects. The analysis of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from blood plasma, which is part of a liquid biopsy, is minimally invasive and in principle enables detection of all tumor-specific mutations.

Introduction: Otological symptoms contribute to the disability of established Parkinson's disease (PD). We sought to evaluate whether prodromal onset may affect PD progression.
Methods: A retrospective cohort design was used to compare time to advanced disease, defined as a Hoehn & Yahr stage ≥3 in consecutive PD patients with history of auditory and/or vestibular symptoms appearing before versus after PD onset.
A simple, accurate, and environmentally friendly method for the simultaneous determination of the analog endocrine disruptors bisphenol S (BPS) and bisphenol A (BPA) was developed and validated. The determination was performed by square-wave voltammetry using a cathodically pretreated boron-doped diamond (BDD) as the working electrode, with 0.1 mol L HSO as the supporting electrolyte.

This study aimed to investigate the applicability of a scoring system for LCN (SALAS score) in colorectal surgery and whether an adequate scoring can be achieved using a specified sequence of the operation.
Methods: The score was assessed by four blinded raters using synchronized video and voice recordings of 20 randomly selected laparoscopic colorectal surgeries (group A: assessment of the entire operation; group B: assessment of the 2nd and 3rd quartile).
The performances of distinct BDD anodes (boron doping of 100, 500 and 2500 ppm, with sp/sp carbon ratios of 215, 325, and 284, respectively) in the electrochemical degradation of ciprofloxacin - CIP (0.5 L of 50 mg L in 0.10 M NaSO, at 25 °C) were comparatively assessed using a recirculating flow system with a filter-press reactor.

Objective: To assess the long-term effectiveness of levodopa in PD patients.
The electrochemical degradation of ciprofloxacin-CIP (50 mg L in 0.10 mol L NaSO) was investigated using a double-sided Ti-Pt/β-PbO anode in a filter-press flow reactor, with identification of oxidation intermediates and follow-up of antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli. The effect of solution pH, flow rate, current density, and temperature on the CIP removal rate was evaluated.

The purpose of this study was to quantify the changes in temporal coordination of the finger joints during different power grips with an ulnar nerve block by means of a sensor glove.

Scapholunate dissociation in stages 2 and 3 may lead to posttraumatic damage if left untreated. Different types of treatment have been described, including capsulodesis, tenodesis, and others. The purpose of all procedures is to avoid palmar shift of the distal scaphoid resulting in secondary arthritis (SLAC wrist).

Purpose Of The Study: In this study, the effect of a simulated ulnar nerve lesion on different grip force measurements was evaluated.
Study Design: Prospective cohort randomized controlled trial.
Purpose Of The Study: Is either a home exercise (HE) program or traditional physical therapy (PT) more effective in the postoperative management of metacarpal fractures?
Methods: Sixty patients suffering from nonthumb metacarpal fractures who received mobilization-stable open reduction and internal fixation were included. All patients were prospectively randomized into either the PT group or the HE group.
Introduction: In treatment of scaphoid non-union bone healing requires beside vital tissue and stability, enduring compression and a good interface between the graft and scaphoid fragments. While fixation techniques show a good primary stability, they reduce sintering and thus compression of fragments in the long term. Therefore, a modified technique optimising the cancellous interface between graft and scaphoid but still providing enough stability without fixating implants should be evaluated.

Measuring maximal grip strength with a dynamometer is very common, often combined with calculating the coefficient of variation (CV), a measure of the variation over the three grip strength trials. Little data is available about the relevance of these measurements in patients with median nerve impairment due to the heterogeneity of patient groups.
