This study presents a novel microspectrometer-integrated microfluidic system for real-time protein concentration monitoring. The device employs electrokinetic principles for efficient protein preconcentration in a PDMS and Nafion film channel. Using FITC-labeled BSA as a model protein, the system demonstrated a linear correlation between protein concentration and absorbance at 491 nm.

To investigate the impact of preoperative serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels on the probability of testicular sperm retrieval, we conducted a study of nonobstructive azoospermic (NOA) men with different testicular volumes (TVs) who underwent microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE). A total of 177 NOA patients undergoing micro-TESE for the first time from April 2019 to November 2022 in Shenzhen Zhongshan Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital (formerly Shenzhen Zhongshan Urology Hospital, Shenzhen, China) were retrospectively reviewed. East Asian continental outflows with PM, O, and other species may determine the baseline conditions and affect the air quality in downwind areas via long-range transport (LRT). To gain insight into the impact and spatiotemporal characteristics of airborne pollutants in East Asian continental outflows, a versatile multicopter drone sounding platform was used to simultaneously observe PM, O, CO, and meteorological variables (temperature, specific humidity, pressure, and wind vector) above the northern tip of Taiwan, Cape Fuiguei, which often encounters continental outflows during winter monsoon periods. By coordinating hourly high-spatial-resolution profiles provided by drone soundings, WRF/CMAQ model air quality predictions, HYSPLIT-simulated backward trajectories, and MERRA-2 reanalysis data, we analyzed two prominent phenomena of airborne pollutants in continental outflows to better understand their physical/chemical characteristics.

Background/purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) and periodontal disease are both prevalent and chronic inflammatory disorders that have significant health impact. Many studies have pointed out that advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in DM induces inflammaging, which is a pre-aging and hyperinflammatory condition, and it has been linked to a greater likelihood in developing periodontitis. Inflammaging in DM has been shown to be driven by AGEs-induced cell senescence, inflammatory cytokines, and oxidative stress, resulting in the degradation of periodontium.

A new liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was established to quantify the anti-gastric cancer fully human monoclonal antibody (ramucirumab) in rat and human serum. The surrogate peptide (GPSVLPLAPSSK) for ramucirumab was generated by trypsin hydrolysis and quantified using the isotopically labeled peptide GPSVLPLAPSSK[C, N]ST containing two more amino acids at the carboxyl end as an internal standard to correct for variations introduced during the enzymatic hydrolysis process and any mass spectrometry changes. Additionally, the oxidation and deamidation of unstable peptides (VVSVLTVLHQDWLNGK and NSLYLQMNSLR) were detected.

With documented high specificity, 99m Tc-pyrophosphate (PYP) scan enables the diagnosis of transthyretin cardiomyopathy to be made reliably without endomyocardial biopsy in patients who do not have monoclonal gammopathy. We report a case with extensive myocardial uptake of Perugini 3 score in the 3-hour 99m Tc-PYP myocardial SPECT that suggested transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. However, a followed endomyocardial biopsy revealed no amyloid deposition.
