Non-centrosymmetric topological material has attracted intense attention due to its superior characteristics as compared with the centrosymmetric one, although probing the local quantum geometry in non-centrosymmetric topological material remains challenging. The non-linear Hall (NLH) effect provides an ideal tool to investigate the local quantum geometry. Here, we report a non-centrosymmetric topological phase in ZrTe, probed by using the NLH effect.

  • The study focuses on controlling chirality in dynamic molecular systems, specifically through the synthesis of a face-rotating tetrahedron (FRT) that can toggle between different chiral forms.
  • Researchers found that the presence of fluoride ions can adjust the energy barrier for the FRT's transformation between enantiomers, allowing for in situ control.
  • The introduction of an enantiopure phenylethanol facilitates the preferential binding to a specific conformer of the FRT, effectively inducing chirality and showcasing potential applications in asymmetric synthesis and dynamic stereochemistry.

The second-order nonlinear Hall effect observed in the time-reversal symmetric system has not only shown abundant physical content, but also exhibited potential application prospects. Recently, a third-order nonlinear Hall effect has been observed in MoTe and WTe. However, few-layer MoTe and WTe are usually unstable in air and the observed third-order nonlinear Hall effect can be measured only at low temperature, which hinders further investigation as well as potential application.

The development of integrated circuits (ICs) based on a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor through transistor scaling has reached the technology bottleneck; thus, alternative approaches from new physical mechanisms are highly demanded. Valleytronics in two-dimensional (2D) material systems has recently emerged as a strong candidate, which utilizes the valley degree of freedom to process information for electronic applications. However, for all-electrical valleytronic transistors, very low room-temperature "valley on-off" ratios (around 10) have been reported so far, which seriously limits their practical applications.

A moiré superlattice in transition metal dichalcogenides heterostructure provides an exciting platform for studying strongly correlated electronics and excitonic physics, such as multiple interlayer exciton (IX) energy bands. However, the correlations between these IXs remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate the cascade transitions between IXs in a moiré superlattice by performing energy- and time-resolved photoluminescence measurements in the MoS_{2}/WSe_{2} heterostructure.

Symmetries, quantum geometries and electronic correlations are among the most important ingredients of condensed matters, and lead to nontrivial phenomena in experiments, for example, non-reciprocal charge transport. Of particular interest is whether the non-reciprocal transport can be manipulated. Here, we report the controllable large non-reciprocal charge transport in the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator MnBiTe.

Understanding the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the risk of late frost damage has scientific guiding significance for optimizing the regional agricultural production layout and varie-ty tuning. Based on the daily meteorological data of 65 weather stations in the southwest China tea region from 1971 to 2020, we analyzed variation characteristics of the last frost date (LFD), tea bud open date (BOD), and their relationships, constructed frost damage probability index and frost damage severity index of spring shoots of shrubby tea trees, and analyzed the spatiotemporal evolution chara-cteristics of the late frost damage risk of shrub tea trees in the southwest tea region. The results showed that both the BOD and LFD had a significant ahead of trend from 1971 to 2020 and the early rate of the LFD was relatively faster than that of the BOD in the southwest tea region.

Photoluminescence (PL) from excitons serves as a powerful tool to characterize the optoelectronic property and band structure of semiconductors, especially for atomically thin two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) materials. However, PL quenches quickly when the thickness of TMD materials increases from monolayer to a few layers, due to the change from direct to indirect band transition. Here, we show that PL can be recovered by engineering multilayer heterostructures, with the band transition reserved to be a direct type.

Nonlinear responses in transport measurements are linked to material properties not accessible at linear order because they follow distinct symmetry requirements. While the linear Hall effect indicates time-reversal symmetry breaking, the second-order nonlinear Hall effect typically requires broken inversion symmetry. Recent experiments on ultrathin WTe demonstrated this connection between crystal structure and nonlinear response.

  • Chemotherapy, particularly pemetrexed-based regimens, is the primary treatment for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with specific genetic mutations called EGFR exon 20 insertions (ex20ins), although the research is limited on different subtypes.
  • A study analyzed data from 119 patients with EGFR ex20ins, revealing that those treated with pemetrexed had a longer progression-free survival and showed a tendency for better overall survival compared to those who were not treated with it.
  • The research suggests that the specific subtype of EGFR ex20ins may influence survival outcomes, with certain subtypes showing a potential advantage, while factors like histological type and bone metastasis are important for prognosis.

Hybrid spin-mechanical setups offer a versatile platform for quantum science and technology, but improving the spin-phonon as well as the spin-spin couplings of such systems remains a crucial challenge. Here, we propose and analyze an experimentally feasible and simple method for exponentially enhancing the spin-phonon and the phonon-mediated spin-spin interactions in a hybrid spin-mechanical setup, using only linear resources. Through modulating the spring constant of the mechanical cantilever with a time-dependent pump, we can acquire a tunable and nonlinear (two-phonon) drive to the mechanical mode, thus amplifying the mechanical zero-point fluctuations and directly enhancing the spin-phonon coupling.
