Background: The fusion of multi-modal data has been shown to significantly enhance the performance of deep learning models, particularly on medical data. However, missing modalities are common in medical data due to patient specificity, which poses a substantial challenge to the application of these models.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a novel and efficient multi-modal fusion framework for medical datasets that maintains consistent performance, even in the absence of one or more modalities.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Myristica fragrans (Nutmeg) is a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine and edible spice. According to Pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China, it has the effects of warming the middle and promoting qi, astringent intestines, and antidiarrheal. In the record of Compendium of Materia Medica, it is the myristica fragrans water extract (MFWE) that is utilized for therapeutic purposes of gastrointestinal disorders frequently.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study offers new insights into the dual role of secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) in lymphedema, highlighting its impact on lymphatic endothelial cell (LEC) functionality. Through transcriptomic analyses and co-culture experiments, we observed that sPLA2 has both protective and detrimental effects on human LECs (HLECs), mediated by macrophage activation. Our findings reveal that while low levels of sPLA2 promote LEC health, excessive sPLA2 leads to dysfunction, emphasizing the significance of the sPLA2/PLA2R axis and arachidonic acid metabolism (AA) in lymphedema pathology.

Here, we successfully cloned and confirmed CmedOBP13, an antennae-biased OBP from the rice leaffolder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, as a secreted protein. Recombinant CmedOBP13 was obtained using the Escherichia coli system, and its binding affinities to 35 volatile compounds emitted by rice plants and three sex pheromone components from female moths were assessed by a competitive binding assay.
