Aim: To study the fibrinogenolytic properties of natrahagin and its effect on platelet aggregation.

Method: SDS-PAGE, fibrinogenolytic activity assay, platelet aggregation.

Results: Upon incubation of fibrinogen with natrahagin at the ratio of 50:1 (w/w), A alpha-chains of fibrinogen were almost completely hydrolyzed in 5 min; however, at least 6 h was needed for the complete degradation of gamma-chains.

A fluorescence quenching method was developed for the rapid determination of DNA and RNA using magdala red as fluorescence probe. In weakly acidic medium, the fluorescence of magdala red (lambdaex/lambdaem = 540/555 nm) can be largely quenched by DNA or RNA. The calibration graphs are linear over the range 0.

We have previously reported that the use of the polymer bis(p-carboxyphenoxy)propane-sebacic acid (20:80) for intratumoral delivery of cis-platinum in a mouse tumor model (RIF-1) potentiated the effects of acute and fractionated radiation. This mode of drug delivery seems particularly applicable to the administration of radiosensitizing drugs because an optimum concentration of radiosensitizer can be maintained in the tumor over the prolonged period required for fractionated radiation treatment. We have now investigated, in the same tumor model, radiosensitization by the thymidine analogue bromodeoxyuridine (BrdUrd).

The objective of the present study was to investigate the specific drug targeting of anticarcinogenic drugs, such as camptothecin (CA), after intravenous (i.v.) injection by incorporation into solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN).

Environmental perturbations that increase plasma thyroid hormone (T3) concentrations also profoundly affect female reproductive behavior and physiology. We explored whether these effects were mediated by interactions between T3 receptor (TR) and estrogen receptor (ER). This hypothesis was of interest because the half-site of a consensus T3 response element DNA sequence is identical to an ER response element (ERE), and TRs bind to a consensus ERE.

1-Behenyl-2-lauryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (22/12 PC) belongs to a unique group of phospholipids in which the molecule has one acyl chain almost twice as long as the other. The temperature-composition phase diagram for this lipid in the range of 25-65 degrees C, and 0 to 84.3% (w/w) water has been constructed by using the isoplethal method in the heating direction and x-ray diffraction for phase identification and structure characterization.

1. Isolation of CSF-1 from human urine was performed through five purification steps. These include concentration by dialysis, silica gel absorption, hydrophobic chromatography and phenyl-Sepharose CL-6B, Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC) and finally preparative electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gels.
