Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity fluctuates over time. The disease activity score 28 (DAS28) is a widely used and validated scoring system for assessing RA activity; however, it requires time and expertise. This study aimed to develop a new molecular assay capable of rapidly and objectively assessing RA activity.

Pooled Efficacy and Safety Profile of Netarsudil Ophthalmic Solution 0.02% in Patients With Open-angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension.

Precis: In pooled phase III analyses, once-daily netarsudil 0.02% resulted in intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction that was noninferior to twice-daily timolol 0.5%, with minimal treatment-related serious or systemic adverse events (AEs).

Randomized Trial Evaluating Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for the Treatment of Chronic Total Occlusion.

Background: Procedural results for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in coronary vessels with chronic total occlusion (CTO) have improved in recent years, and PCI strategies have moved toward more complete revascularization with more liberal use of CTO-PCI. However, evidence evaluating CTO-PCI is limited to observational studies and small clinical trials.

Methods: In this open-label, multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial, PCI-eligible patients were assigned to receive either 1 of 2 strategies: PCI or no PCI for the qualifying de novo CTO lesion with the option for PCI of obstructive non-CTO lesions at the discretion of the operator.

GREM1 Is a Key Regulator of Synoviocyte Hyperplasia and Invasiveness.

Objective: To investigate the expression of Gremlin 1 (GREM1), an antagonist of bone morphogenetic protein, in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovia and its involvement in the hyperplasia and invasiveness of fibroblast-like synoviocytes of RA (RA-FLS).

Methods: Computational analysis was introduced to identify FLS-predominant regulators. GREM1 expression was examined by immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR, and ELISA.

Objective: Syndecan-1 (SDC-1) is a major constituent of the endothelial glycocalyx, which plays a role in maintaining vascular homeostasis and functions as a glomerular filtration barrier. SDC-1 is readily shed into the blood under various conditions, but the clinical implication of circulating SDC-1 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association of serum SDC-1 level with certain clinical manifestations of SLE.
