Background: The effect of embolization of the middle meningeal artery in patients with subacute or chronic subdural hematoma is uncertain.
Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic nonacute subdural hematoma with mass effect. Patients were assigned to undergo burr-hole drainage or receive nonsurgical treatment at the surgeon's discretion, and patients in each group were then randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization with liquid embolic material or to receive usual care.
The clinical use of interleukin-2 (IL-2) for cancer immunotherapy is limited by severe toxicity. Emerging IL-2 therapies with reduced IL-2 receptor alpha (IL-2Rα) binding aim to mitigate toxicity and regulatory T cell (Treg) expansion but have had limited clinical success. Here, we show that IL-2Rα engagement is critical for the anti-tumor activity of systemic IL-2 therapy.

Here, we aimed to investigate whether semaglutide, a novel GLP-1 RA, could alleviate ovarian inflammation in PCOS mice.
Methods: Female C57BL/6J mice were subcutaneously injected with dehydroepiandrosterone for 21 days to establish the PCOS model.
It is highly desirable to develop a low-cost and rapid detection method for trace levels of carbendazim fungicide residues, which would be beneficial for improving human health and mitigating environmental issues. Herein, isolated single tungsten atoms were implanted onto well-organized metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived N-doped carbons to form W-N-C single-site heterojunctions with ultrahigh electrocatalytic activity. The coupling of W-N-C with Cu(HHTP), an electronically conductive MOF with a large surface area and porous structure, exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic performance for the oxidation of carbendazim (CBZ) when they were used for decorating graphene nanoplatelet flexible electrode arrays fabricated via template-assisted scalable filtration.

FA is the waste discharged by power plants, while slag and steel slag (SS) both belong to the iron and steel industry. The effects of SS and FA on the strength, microstructure, and volume stability of alkali-activated slag (AAS) materials with different water glass modulus (Ms) values were comparatively investigated.

We aimed to gain insight into the mechanistic contribution of oxidative stress-induced 8-oxoguanine in pulmonary vascular remodeling.

Methods: All consecutive participants who underwent routine colonoscopic examinations at 3 endoscopy centers in China were enrolled. Participants were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to the Embrella-assisted colonoscopy (EAC) or standard colonoscopy (SC) groups.
Antibiotic pollution and the evolution of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) are increasingly viewed as major threats to both ecosystem security and human health, and have drawn attention. This study investigated the fate of antibiotics in aqueous and sedimentary substrates and the impact of ecosystem shifts between water and sedimentary phases on resistome profiles. The findings indicated notable variations in the concentration and distribution patterns of antibiotics across various environmental phases.

At the end of the chemical vapor deposition growth of 2D TMDCs, the adsorption of excess precursor clusters onto the sample is unavoidable, which will have significant effects on the properties of TMDCs. This is a concern to the academic community.

Here, the construction of melon-structured carbon nitride/N-doped WO (MCN/NW) heterojunction photocatalyst was achieved by a method of prealcoholysis combined with thermal polymerization, where N-doping of WO was achieved in-situ in the formation of heterojunction. The promoted charge separation efficiency was realized through the charge transfer from the conduction band of N-doped WO to the valence band of the MCN.

Background: There are limited data regarding the safety of deferral of percutaneous coronary intervention based on intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) findings. The current study sought to compare the prognosis between deferred lesions based on IVUS and fractional flow reserve (FFR)-guided treatment decision.
Methods: This study is a post hoc analysis of the FLAVOUR randomized trial (Fractional Flow Reserve and Intravascular Ultrasound for Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Intermediate Stenosis) that compared 2-year clinical outcomes between IVUS- and FFR-guided treatment decision on intermediate coronary artery lesions using predefined criteria.

Catalytic conversion of NO and CO into nonharmful gases is of great significance to reduce their adverse impact on the environment. The potential of the WSi superatom to serve as a new cluster catalyst for CO oxidation by NO is examined for the first time. It is found that WSi prefers to adsorb the NO molecule rather than the CO molecule, and the charge transfer from WSi to NO results in the full activation of NO into a physically absorbed N molecule and an activated oxygen atom that is attached to an edge of the hexagonal prism structure of WSi.

However, the effects of water and N addition on plant diversity and interspecific relationship remain poorly understood. In the study, we designed a three-year field experiment in a desert grassland to assess the effect of increased water (natural +50 %) and N addition (10 g·N·m·a) on plant diversity and interspecific relationship.

Using density functional theory calculations, the possible structural evolution of transition metal single atoms supported by B/N codoped-graphene (TM-BN/G) under nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) conditions is explored and the catalytic performance based on reconstructed SACs is theoretically evaluated. A novel nitrogen adsorption mode on TM-BN/G is discovered and the protonation of one of the N atoms results in the TM atoms binding with three N atoms, among which one associates with two B atoms (TM-NB/G).

However, several hurdles remain before implementation into clinical practice. Poor survival of the implanted cells is related to insufficient vascularization, and the potential for fatal arrhythmogenesis is associated with the fetal cell-like nature of immature CMs.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTransition-metal dichalcogenides have promising potentials for high-performance electronic and optoelectronic applications, which could be deeply influenced by defects, including native defects and dopants. Experiments to date have frequently reported p-type conductivity in the WSe monolayer, but the origin remains elusive. Here, using the first-principles calculations, we systematically investigate the point defects in the WSe monolayer and show that: (1) no intrinsic point defect is responsible for the p-type doping; (2) hydrogen interstitials (H) are possible sources for n-type conductivity; (3) oxygen substitution of Se (O) can greatly promote the formation of adjacent W vacancy (V), and finally make V relatively shallow acceptors by forming the defect complex O + V ( = 1 to 6).

We conducted a meta-analysis of 242 published articles to assess interactions between warming (W) and other global change drivers including nitrogen addition (N), increased precipitation (IP), decreased precipitation (DP) and elevated CO (eCO ) on multiple phenophases in experimental studies. We show that leaf out and first flowering were most strongly affected by warming, while warming and decreased precipitation were the most pronounced drivers for leaf colouring.
