Purpose: To review patients with recurrent patellar dislocation surgically treated with robot-assisted medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction compared with patients who underwent surgery using the traditional freehand technique.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed to identify patients who underwent MPFL reconstruction from January 2020 to December 2023 in our hospital. The inclusion criteria were patients aged from 15 to 50 years; patellar dislocation occurring 2 or more times; a Merchant view or computed tomography scan indicating patellofemoral joint malalignment, external patellar inclination, or lateral patellar dislocation; underwent MPFL reconstruction via robot-assisted or traditional freehand technique; complete medical records and imaging data before and after surgery; and a minimum of 1-year postoperative follow-up.
Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitors plus chemotherapy have been the standard of care in the first-line treatment of advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) adenocarcinoma; however, the survival benefits are modest in patients with low programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression. Here we investigated the efficacy and safety of cadonilimab (PD-1/cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4) bispecific antibody) plus chemotherapy as first-line treatment in G/GEJ adenocarcinoma. The prespecified interim analysis is reported here.

Thus, there is a high demand for antibiotics with distinct targets. Caseinolytic protease P (ClpP) is a promising target for combating staphylococcal infections; however, selectively activating S.

Methods: We conducted a phase 3, double-blind, randomized, controlled trial involving adolescent girls and young women in South Africa and Uganda. Participants were assigned in a 2:2:1 ratio to receive subcutaneous lenacapavir every 26 weeks, daily oral emtricitabine-tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF), or daily oral emtricitabine-tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF; active control); all participants also received the alternate subcutaneous or oral placebo.
Objectives: Endocardial trabeculae undergo varicose changes and hyperplasia in response to hemodynamic influences and are a variable phenotype reflecting changes in disease. Fractal analysis has been used to analyze the complexity of endocardial trabeculae in a variety of cardiomyopathies. The aim of this paper was to quantify the myocardial trabecular complexity through fractal analysis and to investigate its predictive value for the diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD).

Here, we report pharmacokinetics (PKs), pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity from a phase I study in healthy participants (NCT03530514). In part A, lean or overweight healthy participants were randomized to single-ascending-dose cohorts of 0.

RMC-7977 is a highly selective inhibitor of the active GTP-bound forms of KRAS, HRAS and NRAS, with affinity for both mutant and wild-type variants. More than 90% of cases of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are driven by activating mutations in KRAS.

However, the precise delivery of the genetic cargo to cells and tissues of interest remains challenging. Here, we show an adaptive strategy that enables the docking of different targeting ligands onto the surface of mRNA-loaded small extracellular vesicles (sEVs).

Background: APN (adiponectin) and APPL1 (adaptor protein, phosphotyrosine interacting with PH domain and leucine zipper 1) are potent vasculoprotective molecules, and their deficiency (eg, hypoadiponectinemia) contributes to diabetic vascular complications. However, the molecular mechanisms that govern their vasculoprotective genes as well as their alteration by diabetes remain unknown.
Methods: Diabetic medium-cultured rat aortic endothelial cells, mouse aortic endothelial cells from high-fat-diet animals, and diabetic human aortic endothelial cells were used for molecular/cellular investigations.
Pubertal timing varies considerably and has been associated with a range of health outcomes in later life. To elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms, we performed multi-ancestry genetic analyses in ~800,000 women, identifying 1,080 independent signals associated with age at menarche. Collectively these loci explained 11% of the trait variance in an independent sample, with women at the top and bottom 1% of polygenic risk exhibiting a ~11 and ~14-fold higher risk of delayed and precocious pubertal development, respectively.

We aim to investigate the dynamic characteristics of cancer-related methylation signals and the feasibility of methylation-based MRD detection in surgical lung cancer patients.
Methods: Matched tumor, tumor-adjacent tissues, and longitudinal blood samples from a cohort (MEDAL) were analyzed by ultra-deep targeted sequencing and bisulfite sequencing.
The most accepted approach to sealing in high-level radioactive waste repositories (HLRWs) is to develop a low-pH grouting material with a pH of the pore solution of less than 11. Currently, the most widely used binary low-pH grouting material is MCSF64, which comprises 60% microfine cement (MC) and 40% silica fume (SF). In this study, a high-performance MCSF64-based grouting material was developed by incorporating naphthalene superplasticizer (NSP), aluminum sulfate (AS), and united expansion agent (UEA) to enhance the slurry's shear strength, compressive strength, and hydration process.

Malignant gliomas are largely refractory to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. To explore the underlying immune regulators, we examine the microenvironment in glioma and find that tumor-infiltrating T cells are mainly confined to the perivascular cuffs and express high levels of CCR5, CXCR3, and programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1). Combined analysis of T cell clustering with T cell receptor (TCR) clone expansion shows that potential tumor-killing T cells are mainly categorized into pre-exhausted/exhausted and effector CD8 T subsets, as well as cytotoxic CD4 T subsets.

We examined 3 (, , and ) variants in association with AD traits as an indirect method to test the association between estrogen and AD in women. Although the study focus was on women, in a comparison, we separately examined molecular variants in men.

The performance and strength of RAC are much lower than natural aggregate concrete (NAC), which are the key factors restricting its application. Class F fly ash is a cementitious material that is considered environmentally hazardous.

However, because the formation of boron-rich tungsten borides is thermodynamically unfavorable at ambient pressure, their crystal structures, compositions, and properties are largely unexplored, which have impeded the rational design of functional materials in the W-B family. In this work, using unique high-pressure reactions, we report a systematic synthesis study of challenging compounds of tungsten borides including WB, WB, and WB.

Methods: A multicenter tandem trial was conducted in 11 centers. Seven hundred thirty-three asymptomatic participants were randomized to receive segmental tandem screening colonoscopy with a 9-minute withdrawal, followed by a 6-minute withdrawal (9-minute-first group, 9MF, n = 366) or vice versa (6-minute-first group, 6MF, n = 367).
