It is known from literature that 40-60% of eeg recordings from SM patients show changes. These changes are: slow generalised activity, focal changes, and sharp waves and spikes occurring in bursts. It is established that optic neuritis often precedes the occurrence of neurological focal changes in SM.

The purpose of the study was monitoring of EEG changes and their dynamics in patients with brain tumours undergoing chemotherapy. The studies group comprised 115 patients with primary or metastatic brain tumours observed during chemotherapy who had serial EEG examinations. At the beginning of the examinations in the first 2 weeks worsening of the EEG records was found, with increased number of tracings with generalized changes.

A group of 277 male patients aged upto 60 years was distinguished. Out of these patients alcohol abuse in anamnesis concerned 128 patients, and ischaemic cerebral stroke occurred in 16 of them during or immediately after drinking.
