[Usefulness of EEG examination in the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis with particular reference to its prognostic importance in retrobulbar neuritis].

It is known from literature that 40-60% of eeg recordings from SM patients show changes. These changes are: slow generalised activity, focal changes, and sharp waves and spikes occurring in bursts. It is established that optic neuritis often precedes the occurrence of neurological focal changes in SM.

[Neuroborreliosis: diagnostic difficulties].

Borreliosis is a condition caused by spirochaete-Borrelia burgdorferi, characterised by multiorgan changes and prolonged course with three consecutive stages. The number of diagnosed cases in Poland tends to increase. This is due to the availability of diagnosis tests.

[Electroencephalic changes in patients with brain tumors during chemotherapy].

The purpose of the study was monitoring of EEG changes and their dynamics in patients with brain tumours undergoing chemotherapy. The studies group comprised 115 patients with primary or metastatic brain tumours observed during chemotherapy who had serial EEG examinations. At the beginning of the examinations in the first 2 weeks worsening of the EEG records was found, with increased number of tracings with generalized changes.

[Ischemic cerebral stroke and alcohol].

Retrospective analysis of patients with ischaemic cerebral stroke with particular relation to an effect of alcohol has been made. A group of 277 male patients aged upto 60 years was distinguished. Out of these patients alcohol abuse in anamnesis concerned 128 patients, and ischaemic cerebral stroke occurred in 16 of them during or immediately after drinking.

[Pain as a symptom of parkinsonism].

The authors describe 5 patients with Parkinson's disease with coexistent sensory symptoms, mainly pains. In the light of the pertinent literature the authors regard pain as one of the symptoms in the parkinsonian syndrome. Diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties in this form of parkinsonism are stressed.
