Unlabelled: Kdp, one of three saturable K(+) uptake systems in Escherichia coli, is the system with the highest affinity for K(+) and the only one whose expression is strongly controlled by medium K(+) concentration. Expression is controlled by a two-component system of KdpD, the sensor kinase, and KdpE, the response regulator. There is general agreement that expression occurs when the growth rate of cells begins to become limited by K(+) availability.

When and how are spatial perceptions scaled?

This research was designed to test the predictions of 2 approaches to perception. By most traditional accounts, people are thought to derive general-purpose spatial perceptions that are scaled in arbitrary, unspecified units. In contrast, action-specific approaches propose that the angular information inherent in optic flow and ocular-motor adjustments is rescaled and transformed into units related to intended actions.

Pseudolymphoma evolving into diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

A 46-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of asymptomatic papules on the right arm, without an antecedent event. Initial clinical and histopathologic features were consistent with a pseudolymphoma without gene rearrangements, and the patient was treated with intralesional glucocorticoids. Four months later, the patient developed additional papules and plaques on the right arm, and, at this time, clinical and histopathologic features were most consistent with a T-cell-rich, large B-cell lymphoma, with monoclonal immunoglobulin light chain gene rearrangement.
