Objective: To investigate the effects of acupoint catgut embedding for 3 weeks on lung tissue, blood immunoglobulin E (IgE) and interleutin-4 (IL-4), brain tissue microglia x-42 (OX-42) and toll-like receptor-2 (TLR-2) in rats with allergic rhinitis of lung deficiency type.
Methods: Forty-five female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided for two times. The first time, they were randomly divided into model group and blank group (Group C) according to 2:1, and the second time, the model group were randomly divided into model control group (Group B) and intervention treatment group (Group A) according to 1:1.
Background And Objective: The cardinal diagnostic sign of congenital aganglionic megacolon, or Hirschsprung's disease (HD), is an aganglionic segment of the distal colon or rectum. To determine the surgical planning of a radiological transition zone (TZ) in HD, this study investigated the association between a radiological TZ and the bowel resection length.
Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted in children (n = 192) with suspected HD determined by radiological TZ on contrast barium enema, and who underwent pull-through operations.
Background: Both phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(pStat-3) and integrin αvβ6 can play vital role in the development and progression of cancer. However, little is known about their expression correlation and clinical significance in gallbladder cancer(GBC).
Objective: The aim of our present study was to investigate the expression of pStat-3 and integrin αvβ6, two proteins' correlation and their clinical significance in GBC tissues.
Objective: To observe the change in plasma gelsolin levels among burn patients, and explore its impact on patient prognosis.
Methods: This prospective cohort study includes 98 burn patients with burns ≥30% TBSA, who were admitted to our institution between January 2010 and June 2013. Patients were grouped according to burn sizes, development and severity of sepsis, and survival from sepsis.
Previous studies in our laboratory have shown that the cardiotoxicity is the main reason for rat death caused by tentacle-only extract from jellyfish Cyanea capillata. However, the direct cardiotoxicity in vitro and its mechanisms of toxic action remain unclear. The current studies were performed by using the Langendorff-perfused isolated heart model, which showed a dose-dependent hemodynamic and electrocardiogram changes.
